BaD #5: Worlds Collide

I've read a lot of comics in the last five years. Nothing compared to some people, of course, but still quite a few and enjoyed most of them (Batman especially). But the only comic I've ever really loved is the Mega Man comic from Archie. It's so good! Anyway, I guess it's never been a ginormous seller—what's wrong with people?!—and in June of last year they put it on hold. I was so distressed when I found out that I emailed the publisher a pleading message...to no apparent avail. So I haven't had any new Mega Man comics to read in far too long.

But Archie also publishes a Sonic the Hedgehog comic and they did a Sonic/Mega Man crossover a couple years ago. Last month they published the whole thing in one big trade paperback and I just finished reading it earlier today. Man, felt so good to have that itch stratched again. It was great! The two comics have the same writer—a very talented fellow named Ian Flynn—and he does a great job with the very different personalities of the main characters (Mega Man, Sonic, Wily, Eggman, etc.) and how they interact, not to mention the cornucopia of side characters. It was a delightful comic that I thoroughly enjoyed, and now I'm considering getting Flynn's Sonic comics. Maybe.

Worlds Collide epic moment

There are some pretty epic moments

Even though we aren't getting any new Mega Man comics right now, the series still has not been cancelled. It's still just on hold. What gives me hope is that there is currently a sequel to Worlds Collide (near as I can tell it's still running) called Worlds Unite and once that runs its course, maybe they'll give us some new solo Mega Man comics. Archie has been publishing Sonic for more than 20 years, so hopefully some of that popularity will rub off on the Blue Bomber. Fingers crossed!

I need to get that now it's in graphic novel form.

It was in three trade paperbacks before, I think, but getting it this way is much cheaper.

Funny. I've been recently thinking about getting the Mega Man comics because they look so cool. I need to get around to doing this very soon.
