I want to see Hail, Ceasar! as well. I'm like you, only seen a few Coen bros. films. I like Channing Tatum, but I really like Scarlett johannsen. Disagree about the weak link think, but differences make the world go 'round.
BaD day 5: at the movies.

It's a movie weekend for me. My girlfriend really wanted to see Hail, Caesar!, so we did that this evening. I'm not what I would call a Coen brothers fan. I have enjoyed every movie of theirs that I have seen, but I have not seen them all by any means, and the only one I've seen more than once is The Man Who Wasn't There.
Hail, Caesar! was a lot of fun. I have a feeling that it will be rather divisive. The audience we saw it with didn't seem to care for it much, but my girlfriend absolutely loved it. I thought it was a great send up of classic Hollywood, and at some point it morphs into a very classic Hollywood-style movie. I was amazed at the sheer number of cameos in the film, and I confess that I totally geeked out knowing that both Kurgan and Connor MacCleod from the first Highlander movie were in it. It even had the guy who played Salmonius from Hercules: the Legendary Journeys. I was stoked to see him after all these years.
I've got to say that Channing Tatum stole every scene he was in. I'm so conflicted about that guy. I think he has dead, lifeless eyes and didn't show much personality at first, but he has won me over ever since 21 Jump Street. There were great performances from top to bottom, even Scarlett Johanssen, who I feel is always the weak link in any film she appears in.
Tomorrow, my girlfriend is turning the tables and taking me out for a change. We're going to see Pride and Prejudice With Zombies, and it makes me happy to know that she is going to humor me by taking me to what is clearly a BaD movie that I very much want to see.
