Gametrailers.com is closing down tonight. I loved their Retrospectives and Reviews. I have been a member there for 10 years! This really sucks!

I've watched some of those. Haven't in a while though. Too bad. Hate to see sites close down.

Yeah, I haven't seen them in a while, but that does suck. Will their archives still live oin YouTube?

I bet their old vidoes will stay up, just nothing new. Really sucks.

I never really used them but yeah, they were always there. This sort of thing is always sad.

Is it just the site?  I hadn't been to the site in a couple years, but I watch their videos on youtube all the time.  Maybe their youtube channel will stay up.

I bet their Youtube channel will stay at a stand-still. GameTrailers broke a lot of ground for me. The videos drew me in: Bonus Round, Angry Video Game Nerd, Invisible Walls, Epic Battle Axe, Pop-Fiction, Screw-Attack, Retrospectives, Reviews, The Final Bossman, Pachter Factor...etc. It was the first online community I was ever active in; the forums got better over time. I learned so much about gaming from that site.

The real downfall was the site redesign, the community never really recovered from it. They eliminated blogs; which drew me to 1UP and eventually here. End of an era...

Yeah, when they redesigned the site, I didn't like it and stopped going their.  They were my first choice for video reviews and I downloaded a LOT of videos from their site.  I found it easier to get their videos from youtube after their redesign.

Even when I reduced my visiting to the site around 2013 and limiting myself just to their E3 coverage, this was still a great loss for me. I remember being one of the first sites I ever used for gaming coverage, watched a lot of the video reviews (let's face it, from the profesional sites they actually knew how to make proper video reviews), contents like the Retrospective and of course, the cross-postings from Screw Attack and AVGN. It also had a strong community of video makers and I think JonTron and PeanutButterGamer started there on the community section (or atleast together with Youtube), alongside others who would become known faces in the current Youtube gaming community.

Rest in peace GT, i'll never forget the good times there.
