Went From Bad To Hell Fast

So the apartment complex sent me a letter stating that instead of a 30 day notice they need 60 and that we have to stay till April 5th if we follow our notice or we can renew at the current rate we have. In which they actually mean"We are pressuring you to either stay another year or your still gonna have to give us money and stay till April." I figure we will still have to pay up regardless but I'm moving Feb 20th. My brother is helping me then and I'm ready to be free and go back to my home town. The apartment will just sit empty for March and that 5 days in April. They want 839.00 not counting the utilities like water that's in the bill and then 139.00 in April. I left a mean message on the voicemail last night. It made me feel a little better. This is just ridiculous and I know there being all pissy because they aren't getting a renewal. I'm about to get the utilities set to be turned off on the 20th. They told me that we had to have electricity on at the start of the lease so I wonder how there gonna like it when it sits empty for that whole month when they could have moved someone in. I was extremely pissed last night, I had wanted to blog then but it probably would have been nothing but cussing and yelling.

That is such a terrible business practice especially if on your contract it says you can leave a 30 day notice. Why not just let you out and have some new tenants in there instead of having it sit empty? Crazy.

Because they don't want to go without having some cash flow coming in. I think management changed hands half way through our lease. I can't find the lease sadly, I swore we put it up somewhere but hell maybe it got thrown away. In the end it's what gonna have to be done or it will be considered breaking the lease. I just hope they enjoy it sitting empty. I'll hate giving them the money but if they want it that way then 2 can play this game!

that sucks, Nicole! Well, sometimes it's harder to get out of situations than you might like, but don't despair, you'll be free soon enough!

I will, I'm still moving the 20th. Just gonna have to pay like I sadly figured. It will be okay thou.

If it says in the contract you signed it's 30 days, it's 30 fucking days. Threaten legal action, I say.

That's what I say. I don't think they can keep you there or charge you after you leave legally. I got out of a lease years ago because of truck noise near my room. I got some advice that told me they can't keep you there legally, and I told them that. I got my secury deposit back and got out. No problem.

Well I can't find my lease and sadly while someone in former management said 30 days they have said its in the lease. So I'm pretty much still stuck in a crumy situation but we have a plan to make it all workout properly. I wish I could bring legal action but I'd probably get fucked over.

I wouldn't put up with it. Move out and refuse to pay for the final month. They don't have a leg to stand on and will likely back off to avoid the legal costs.

Sadly I wish that was the case. After today I pretty much got to stick to the plan and just pay what they ask. That's all I am doing though. If I get a notice about more money after April then I'm sending them a fuck you notice, lol.
