Currently Listening To: The fan on the PC Laptop as it's updating the OS

So yesterday about an hour after I finished BaD I was online browsing and all of a sudden my Macbook Pro decided it wasn't going to work anymore. This sucks considering its only a couple of years old. Anyways it wouldn't power up so after some online digging I found out that it was due to the battery. I took it to a local repair shop because the Genius Bar was full until the weekend.

The computer folks said this was price of the battery. I think it might be padded with labor but after I saw on YouTube that the battery is glued on to the case of the laptop (because screws take up too much space) this wasn't something I wanted to try on my own. PC's I'm comfortable with, but the Mac is a whole different beast so either Wednesday or Thursday I will have a new battery. When the employee was showing me my laptop one of the cells had begun to crack and he said other Macbook batteries tend to swell at the end of their life. Blah! Currently I'm typing on my little travel PC laptop while the older backup is updating. Anyways looks like I won't be taking part in CD Saturdays for the next couple of weeks.

That's all for now, more tomorrow!

dude when I spilled coffee on my last macbook they wanted $700 to fix it. I was like hell no, and sold it for $500.  Now I miss my macbook.  Might buy one of those Macbook airs soon, just for as a writing computer.

The Macbook Air's are really nice. If I can justify (or have the coin can rule come into play) I'd like to get one too.

I'll just stick with higher end PCs. I don't think people know that PC vs. Mac really isn't a fair comparison, because which of the VAST array of different PCs are you comparing to what mac?

I've gotten used to macs at work, since I work in the Mass Comm dept. on campus, but I still go for PCs for the same reason I go for older Japanese cars: cheap, reliable, and easier to fix.Nothing against Macs, I'd love a Macbook, but these issues remind me too much of every time we've had to fix my mom's VW Jetta and ran into a hard-to-find, super-expensive part.

If it wasn't for work, I'd probably be mainly PC, but what can you do, plus I'm full on into the Apple Ecosystem. There are a lot of really good PCs and I always tell people who want to buy a Mac, what are you going to use it for, and usually they can find a really good PC that suits their needs and save some cash.

If Apple wasn't so into the closed garden it would probably be easier to fix Macbooks like PCs. I do like the European car analogy. Thank goodness I have the mini laptop and my older laptop to use.

I don't really have any use for a Mac. Too much money for a start, not that good for games and a lot of the software I use. A PC that costs less than half the price will do everything I need a computer to do.

I had to buy my daughter a Macbook when she was in school. It cost me $2200 plus tax and died twice in the space of two years. I have an HP laptop that I bought in 2010 and *knock on wood* it is now my son's laptop running Windows 10.

My co-worker bricked his Macbook just upgrading to Yosemite. The fact that they glue in the hard drive is pretty dumbass too. Nah, no Mac for me.

It all comes down to what you are going to use it for, and does it fit your needs. Like I was telling Super Step, when people ask me I always ask them why they need a Mac. If its for work, or something specialized go for it, if its just for status check out some PCs, and save some cash.

My old PC laptop is still running (after I wiped the hard drive a couple of times) and its still solid. Currently I'm typing this response on my mini laptop (I think its an 11 inch.) I've told a couple of people who have kids going to college, get their kids a mini laptop like this for them to take to class to take their notes, and a regular laptop to keep in their dorms. The mini laptop battery lasts a full day, and it weighs next to nothing.

Yeah I don't get the whole gluing the battery to the case thing. slapping some screws won't make it any thicker, and the dang thing is already light, what's four screws going to add in weight?
