A few wise decisions (New buys!)

Good morning fellow Pixlbytes!

It's been a crazy last couple of weeks workwise for me but my load is looking a little lighter coming up.............. Phew!

I figured i'd update you fine people of my most recent purchases just cause. So I keep a wishlist on Amazon primarily for PS3 and Vita games but usually don't stick to it for whatever reason. However, I woke up Saturday morning and decided i'd knock a few games off that wishlist and make them a reality. I've been working through Skyrim on and off since I bought it day one and am now in Skyrim "off" mode. I find that i'll binge it for a week putting in 10 or so hours and than let it sit for weeks and weeks. I don't know why this is but I find it difficult to stay on it for extended periods. I think at this point I've over 80 hours in it and emotionally am ready for it to be over. For the time I have invested in it though, I really need to finish.

But I digress............ I woke up Saturday and figured I'd get some games that were more of a thrill ride and shorter (much shorter) so as a PS3 owner, where else should I go but Uncharted. I've never played Uncharted before and really don't know why I waited but I bought the dual pack consisting of Uncharted 1 & 2 and am really enjoying it. I finished Uncharted 1 on Monday (took me about 7 hours I think on normal) and started 2 last night. I could see myself replaying 1 at some stage to find all the treasures and on a harder difficulty so i'll hang onto it. I had heard a lot of people had an issue with the latter 20% of the game with the introduction of another enemy type but I actually enjoyed the variation.

In addition to Uncharted, I also finally bought Yakuza 4. I found a used copy at my local gameshop for $20 so money well spent. I haven't started it yet but after my experience with Yakuza 3 am very much looking forward to. I think i'll finish Uncharted 2 first before getting into it because I plan on being very thorough on my first Yakuza 4 playthrough.

Anyway, those are my game purchases for the week. I probably won't buy anything else PS related until Soul Sacrifice at the end of April for the Vita. On a side note, I did pick up Kate Nash's most recent album "Girl Talk" and it's great. More punky than her previous stuff but I dig the change.

my problem with uncharted 1 was the jetski section.

I was always curious about Yakuza. I played Sleeping Dogs and really liked it.

Yakuza 3 was really enjoyable but I was kinda irked that they removed some stuff from the Japanese version for the western release. Yakuza 4 is complete apparently.

I do the same exact thing after playing a lengthy game (or sometimes parallel to one). I tend to do it in bulk, though, often time playing through two or three short games in a row before starting up another long game.

But, yeah, that's a good idea to get through Uncharted 2 before getting involved with Yakuza 4. I suppose the game could be short if you plow throught it, but what's the fun in that? Anyway, have fun with your new games!

Nice pickups! I'm still in the process of playing through the first Uncharted, and I haven't touched my copy of Yakuza yet. You're gonna really enjoy Uncharted 2. That is the game that got me sucked into the Uncharted series.

Yeah i've only heard good things about Uncharted 2. I only played about 30 mins last night so looking forward to pumping some serious hours in tonight

I'm about 60 hours into Skyrim and so ready to be done with it. So I definitely know where your coming from. Some of those treasures on Uncharted are hidden pretty well. I thought I had found most of them, but by the end I didn't have half lol. Good luck with that!

Haha I think i'll need it. If I remember correctly, I had around 25/60 after my first playthrough. I'll prob have to use a walkthrough to get them all if I so desire

Nice Pickups. I enjoyed half of Uncharted 1 and all of Golden Abyss. Need to start Uncharted 2 sometime I acquired it in the 2 pack as well.

I was always curious about Yakuza Dead Souls but have never jumped in.

I was thinking about whether I'll grab Golden Abyss. If I ever upgrade to PS+ I will obviously. And i'm sure i'll be interested in Yakuza Dead Souls once I finish Yakuza 4

I love the Uncharted series, I watched my little sister play through the first one but I eventually went through it myself and have stuck to the series since. They get better as you go further into the series so I hope you enjoy 2. My fave is Uncharted 3!

I dont know anything about the Yakuza series, I keep getting told I need to play them but I havent yet....

Yakuza 3 was awesome. There's lots to do with mini games, etc. The series feels like the spiritual successor of Shenmue to me

Good choice picking up Yakuza 4. That series is great. I can't wait for the next one (didn't bother with the recent zombie one though I'll admit).

Yeah Yakuza 4 has been on my wishlist a long time..... I may try the zombie one at some stage but from what i've seen the shooting mechanics look pretty dodge

Someday I'll play the awesome that is Yakuza. Someday! On a related note, I did pick up Binary Domain and I've read people from the Yakuza dev. team were involved with it as well.

Yeah i've actually been thinking about Binary Domain. You can get it for like $15 on Amazon so I might look into it someday

Great buys! You can't go wrong with Uncharted. They are all classics to me. The Yakuza series is one I want to start on. I saw the one called "Dead Souls" that is sort of a spinoff with Japanese zombies. That looked very cool.

Yeah Dead Souls definitely looks "unique". I think my favorite thing about the Yakuza series is the atmosphere. I'm about half way through Uncharted 2 at this stage so expect to dive into Yakuza 4 in a week or so
