Whats so BaD about XCOM2?

I'm a bit surprised to see all the negativity around the sequel. Even people who praised the difficulty offered in the first game are bashing on the new one. Is it unfair or are the devs expecting more from players to rise up to the new challenge? I've heard veterans of the game rage quit and have a difficult time making any progress. I haven't played the game yet, but all the complaining is keeping me away.

Anyone play the game yet? What's the verdict? I'm going back to Fire Emblem. Cool

Really I have heard nothing except good things, but for some bugs and issues.  Blake is playing it and likes it.  Maybe he will chime in.

Yeah, when we did a podcast last he was gushing about it. So maybe becuase of him I think most like it?

I've also heard machocruz say some good things I think.

pcgamer gave it a rave review, and they're one of the few publications I trust.  I'm curious about it too, but try as I did, I couldn't beat the first one.  I still want to play it though.

A lot of the usual podcasts I listen to who praised the last game and applauded the ramp up in difficulty for the PC sequel have been somewhat down on it for being too hard. Blake usually cuts through the bullshit and breaks things down well enough to convince me otherwise. I need to hear it from him I guess, but a lot of my fav podcasts have been critical of it.

Games are a particularly hard medium to review I think, because peoples' experiences are sooooo different.

I just don't like that it is PC exclusive. I wish it would come to consoles. That's all I really have to say lol.

I think that keeping it a PC exclusive was an excuse to make it harder, and give it hardcore reputation. The bullshit I remember skimming through around gaming forums anyhow.

People on gaming forums don't know shit about shit. Here's the reason from the horses mouth:    http://www.pcgamer.com/xcom-2-creative-director-explains-why-its-pc-exclusive/

Most frequent complaint I've seen is regarding the timed missions.  There are a lot of Enemy Unknown veterans on Youtube progressing through the game fine.

Idle Thumbs podcast talked about it a bunch this week. It sounds fantastic but it is super challenging from what they said. I think we're just hearing that vocal minority, yet again, with their complaints.

Ya. I always listen to them. But it was also on RockPaperShotgun where they talked about how there is this 'invisible game' going on in the background of the 'real time game' that uses dice roll mechanics which seems cheap and unfair at times. So, standing face-to-face with an opponent when you have a 90% chance success attack, but you can still miss with that 10% and lose that character if the enemy  happens to hit hard. That permadeath seems to be irking my podcast and game site groups.

I haven't touched this game and at some point I will tackle the first one. I'm curious to see if I encounter the same problems.
