Platform: Wii/DS

Released: 2007

Developer: Sega Sports R&D

Genre: Sports/mini-game

I remember the hype for this game, mostly because it was the first time Mario and Sonic were appearing in the same game. Oh, and they were competing IN THE OLYMPICS! Now at first, it seems unfair because Mario would win all the jumping competitions and Sonic would win all the running events, but they leveled everything out despite these thoughts.

The game features a whopping 24 events from the Olympics, including relay races, swimming competitions, trampoline events, and many more. You can also choose between several characters on both sides, such as Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Sonic, Shadow, Knuckles, and others. The Wii game utilized the Wii motion controls (which could sometimes be physically tiring) while the DS used the handheld's touch screen for many of its games.

This game proved to be a huge success and has led to several sequels. There's even one slated for this year to coincide with the Olympics this summer. It looks like Mario and Sonic will be competing at all the Olympic games from now on.

Mario and Sonic being in the same game was monumental when it first happened.  So much so that I even bought it.  Unfortuantely, the game wasn't very good.  it was trying to be like Wii Sports and failed.  I haven't bought a game in the Mario & Sonic Olympic series since.

It was flawed, but fun. Perhaps you should give the series another try.

I think is was one of the more successful Olympic games from that year.

It was VERY successful, which is why they're still making them.

Shadow is going way too slow in that clip. Good for the series I guess, but it doesn't look like something I'd be interested in.

It's really just a bunch of mini-games involving motion control centered around the Olympics.

I got that part, it just doesn't look interesting to me.

Who got the most gold, Mario or Sonic?

I imagine Mario won all the jumping events and Sonic won the running events. Probably a tie.
