Platform: Nintendo 3DS

Released: 2015

Developer: GungHo Online Entertainment

Genre: Puzzle

This recent puzzle game is actually two games in one. You can play Puzzle & Dragons Z as well as the Mario version of the same game. Puzzle & Dragons was a mobile game that first launched in 2012; it was a huge success, leading to several sequels. Well, I guess they got Nintendo's permission to use Mario! Why not? So we have yet another wonderful Mario puzzle game!

How does the puzzle part work? The simple version is that you move around one of the orbs on the bottom screen and try to find a spot where it can link up with the most orbs of the same kind. You may also get chains if more orbs of the same kind fall into place. This will cause the characters in your party to attack the enemy on the top screen. So it's really a puzzle RPG. Check out the video below to get a better understanding of the gameplay.

That's it for this series of Mario spin-off games. Obviously, I couldn't do all of them. So tell me, which Mario spin-off game is your favorite? It doesn't have to be one that we covered. Let us know!

Did the title grab your attention?

It did. Just the length itself had me sold on this post.

For some reason, I didn't really like the Mario Puzzle & Dragons game.  It just felt too fiddly and was actually kind of hard.  I just didn't 'gel' with it, you know?

I think my favorite Mario spinoff game is probably the Mario Kart titles.  I also really liked Yoshi's Island if you count that, and I loved Mario Paint back in the day, too.

Those are great games. I also love the Mario Kart games, especially 8 on Wii U!

My favorite to read about were the knitting ones. Silly Japan and their need for clothing.

Japan is weird. I mean, Americans are weird too, but Japan is really weird. Only they could come up with a game about knitting a Mario sweater. lol

I got this game, but it didn't grab me like I thought it would. I guess it seemed too complicated. I played more Pokemon Shuffle instead.

Interesting...it doesn't look very complicated, but I haven't played it.

It really isn't that complicated, but I just couldn't get into it.

You know you totally win BaD this year, right?  But I sort of recall you winning last year too!

That's great! Actually, I don't think I did anything for BaD last year. Two years ago I participated, though, with my "20 Awesome Ninja Games."
