Zelda, Etc.

I'm about two hours into Zelda now. I brought the Wii U in from the living room and hooked it up to a monitor on my desk so I can kind of work and play the game at the same time. So far it's pretty cool.  It isn't as beautiful an HD upgrade as Wind Waker, but it's still great game with tight controls, and I'm impressed with it after all these years.

Me and the boys have been playing D&D and are about to start our second arc, whenever they decide what path they're going to take. I have to admit, it's great for my imagination and writing discipline, cause I've been doing a lot of writing for it, and it shows, I think.

Prices have gone down on the pc I wanted (probably because of the advance of technology) so I think I'm gonna finally buy a new PC soon. My current PC has just about had it, and I'm ready to have something where I feel more comfortable pushing it playing games for long periods of time.

Anyway, I hope all of you are doing well!  Time to write!!!

Twilight Princess is my favorite 3D LoZ. You can have mounted battles and ride a giant boar. Ocarina of TIme ain't got nothing on that. Bosses fights are cool as hellt, music is great, one of the best Gannon fights in the series and the most 'epic' as the kids say.  Come to think of it, the different phases of the Gannon fight make me think of Souls series bosses.  Anyway, there has been nothing like it since. Darksiders was a damn good try, but TP 's scale felt much larger and the world and imagery were more relatable than Darksiders' extremely stylized and over the top aeshtetic.

yeah I think it's my favorite 3D zelda so far too.  I don't mean to say I think it's the best... but just that I like this one most.

Looking forward to getting back into it today!

While Twilight Princess is still not my favorite Zelda game, I like the HD remake MUCH better than the original.  The graphics may still be rather bland and brown at times, but at least they're not muddy and smeary anymore like they were on the Wii.  Plus, playing on a flat screen TV helps, too (before I was playing it on an old TV).  So now the only thing I can complain about is some of the gameplay design choices.  For instance, like how SLOW it starts out.  You say you're only two hours in?  You're probably not even at the first dungeon yet.  Heck, you might not even have Link's green clothes yet!  And it really doesn't start picking up until the third dungeon.  Speaking of dungeons, I will say that Twilight Princess has some of the most cleverly designed dungeons in the series.  And the game does have two of my favorite Zelda characters in it.  Princess Zelda herself is pretty awesome in this game, and Agitha the bug lady still cracks me up.

Zelda is quite awesome in it.

I don't mind the slow start so much. It's still fun an interesting. I think that's the difference with Skyward Sword is that the start just isn't fun at all.  But that's my opinion. But I like the beginning of TP. And no, I'm not to the first dungeon yet... but I will be soon....Laughing

It does have some cool dungeons though I will agree.

Like I said, it isn't such a revelation to see like WWHD was, but it does look pretty.  Still a little brown, but I guess that's just aesthetics.  It's not muddy though, like you said.

I've enjoyed what I've played of it a lot but like you I'm not very far. I hope to play more this week but life is getting in the way. :)

Can't wait to get Twilight Princess HD. That was my favorite Zelda and it's just one game shy of the top of my all time favorite games list. :)

A new computer is on my shopping list, but I'll wait until the contract is signed and I'm working the next (same but w contract) job.

Next Fall/Spring. I'm filling a gap until they find a real doctor. Which will actually be a PhD ...

have you given thought to getting your PhD?

Yes, but I have neither eloped nor conceived it, so that baby is still just a thought. If I were to get one it'd be a teaching doctorate, cause I want to spend only a couple years and hopefully have a stipend take care of my tuition.

D&D always inspired writing projects for me, probably because I had few people to play it with, and so just spent time writing up story-lines, characters, maps and building/dungeon designs.

I'm definitely going to turn this campaign into a book, but there will be changes.  It's just the act of it and the decision making and all of it that have really inspired me, I feel like I have a whole new grasp on storytelling.
