Good morning Pixlpeeps! I hope the weekend treated you good people well, and it is time for another start to the week. This weekend there really wasn’t much in terms of gaming for me because I binged watched a ton of House of Cards, and I have three episodes left in the season. The reason I stopped watching is because I found the Godfather Epic on one of the HBO’s and if you haven’t seen it, the folks who released it chopped up Part II, and placed I and II in chronological order. The only thing that was missing was the end scene in Part II where Michael announces that he has joined the Army which angered Tom and Sonny. I forgot to mention that deleted scenes were added which add to the story (you see a young Hyman Roth.) During all this TV time I did manage to sneak in some games

 

MLB 15 The Show – PS4: I’ve gone back to baseball because I’m getting the itch especially with the season close to starting. Video game Chris is leading the Mets in HR’s with 20 and is three off the HR lead. The Mets are not a good team in this game yet they are only 8.5 back of the Nationals but hovering around .500. There is a good chance that if things don’t change I will leave during free agency.

 

NCAA Football 14 – PS3: I think I am still in year 5 with Central Michigan and they are 9-0 and blowing everyone out yet still stuck at #4. I might have turned the corner and become the big fish in the small pond that is the MAC. I don’t want to move the team because that is what I normally do in my other Dynasty files so I’m going to leave them there and continue to schedule soft in the OOC just to see if the game will let me play in the national title game or realistically keep me out of the game but play in a BCS Bowl game.

 

Grand Theft Auto IV Complete – PC: So I bought this game on Amazon and redeemed the key on Steam. I bought this game with the intent of modding it so I can play as Iron Man in the GTA Universe with the 89 Batmobile as my ride of choice. After waiting a bit for the download I was ready to fire the game up, and it didn’t run. I thought it was the mod’s so I uninstalled the game, and reinstalled it and still it would not load. It said Running on the Steam window but nothing was on the screen.

I put on my detective hat and searched Google and YouTube and apparently quite a few people were having this problem and it looks like it is on Steam’s side. After watching a couple of videos and copied a couple of files I found a decent work around and used a shortcut to the LaunchGTAIV.exe file. Everything was running…but at a 800 X 600 window. Again more tinkering with a notepad file, writing some word with a dash in front of it, and adding a number behind it to finally be able to run the game in my laptop’s native resolution. Finally I am ready to play this game.

Then I run into the infinite loop of a loading screen. Oh yes there was more headaches. Back to Google, and I found a fix to this problem, and finally the game loads…actually it loaded and I walked around a little bit before I decided to give the mods another try. I used the Iceenhancer, which does make a difference. I don’t think my laptop can handle the uber awesome screens you see on YouTube, but it made the game head and shoulders nicer than the stock version. I think it might look better if I tinker with it a bit. As of right now I can’t get the prompt to show up to change the main character to Iron Man.

So after a day and a half of trying to figure out what is going on I got it to work but I will probably go back to the game later on once the frustration wears off a bit.

Here are a couple of videos I watched on how to fix the problem. I watched a handful but I think these are the ones I followed that seemed to get the game working for me.

It was a mix of this, some old threads on message boards and a lot tinkering that got the game running. 

 

 

Portal – Steam: I am currently on puzzle 18 and one away from 19. I know what I have to do in the last section of 18 after a bit of trial and error. Once I kind of figured it out, I was already frustrated so I stopped playing and checked YouTube for the solution and sure enough I was right. It is all about timing and that was adding to the frustration. I’ll give it another go later on so I can know this from Mount Backlog. I’ll probably give the bonus maps a try as well.

 

Grid Autosport – Steam: I am on Season 4, and I tried one season of Tuner before heading back to Touring. Its more racing other cars rather than time. I was doing well in Tuner but time races are not exciting. I like racing the other teams and occasionally spinning out my teammate.

 My next thing to figure out is how to take in game screen shots. I bet there's an easy fix and its something I have to search Steam for but as of right now I have no idea how to do it or else there would be pictures galore on this latest entry.
