Bad Multiplayer? Or Bad Me!

I played some mutiplayer in Tomb Raider for the first time last night. Highly frustrating and not much fun. Areas are so incredibly dark you can be in a room with someone and not see them. I shot someone in the face point blank with a shotgun. They shook it off and shot me dead with a handgun two seconds later. Have to ask myself if it's really worth it to get better. Is it really going to get more enjoyable? Probably not. I know some of you have expressed similar feelings about multiplayer deathmatch in FPS games. Leeradical has stated his distaste for it in his blogs. Guess I'm not alone here. Some games really get it right, though. Far Cry Instincts:Predator was outstanding at this stuff. Perfect Dark Zero is another that comes to mind. Halo and COD both excel at it. Why do developers throw it into a game if it's not good? Can't understand it at all. Perhaps I just suck. But I can hold my own in COD matches. Even win sometimes. But most of the time I just get PWND!!!! With a capital P! Sucks to be old and slow, you know?

Speaking of getting PWND....had to show you this. Guy gets it at the end. Wait for it......

Could not have happened to a more deserving soul. Here's some music for ya.........

Two great night driving songs from the soundtrack of the film Drive.

Don't see why TombRaider needed multi-player in the first place but game companies think it's "all the rage" dontcha know!

Yeah,I'm kinda glad they changed their mind about adding it to Bioshock Infinite. It is really unnecessary to have it in every major game.

From everything I've heard, it's not you, the multiplayer really is that bad.

Thanks for the vote of confidence,Tami. I needed that. Maybe what I really need is night vision goggles in that game. Those must be raccoons I'm playing against. You see the bullets flying out of their gun,but you can't see them!

That is another game that took the high road. Focused on what's important to the gamers that bought it,like I did.

I remember when Metroid Prime 2: Echoes had multiplayer. It was unnecessary, but not horrid, I guess. I still wonder why they bothered though. Looks like TR's the same way.

I love the Drive soundtrack as well as the movie. I actually listened to Kavinsky on Spotify on one of my walks last year; was hit or miss, as I'm hit or miss with his genre to begin with, but "Nightcall" itself is an incredible song.

So many remixes of that song on YouTube. Drive introduced me to a whole new genre of music. I call it "80's style electronic driving music" as it usually has something to do with fast cars at night.

Yeah, I was going to call it modern 80s electronica, but I didn't know what it officially is. lol In any case, that genre certainly does tend to have tons of remixes of its songs, that's like half of what I listened to on Spotify; this was when I had the paid version, and could just listen to the album, so it's not like Spotify radio just chose to play a bunch of "Nightcall" remixes, either. lol

I agree with Joe. Probably something that someone decided to throw on at the last minute. Multiplayer in Prime 2  was not unplayable, but the mechanics of the game just didn't mesh that well with multilplayer. I asume this is the same issue here. I was under the impression this was a third person action adventure, not a straight up fps.

It actually is third person, and you get to choose your character. That part was cool but the gameplay was annoying. It seemed so sluggish compared to Call Of Duty :Black Ops 2.

It can be amazing if done correctly, I really enjoyed Aliens Vs Predator online multiplayer but I find the real problem lies with an over saturation of genres, the online support for AVP was about three months at most (at least on 360) and it means that only the big leagues like COD can claim to have worth while online support for years at a time! Transformers is another example, really enjoyable on line but no support, If game companies did not just tag on 'multiplayer' then it would not loose its appeal, at least thats my two cents. I also know how you feel about getting pwnd! I just have to remind myself that achieving 10th prestige on COD= not having much of a life/ not having much aspirations of game types played!
