Sadame looks interesting. I'll put that one on my list.
Spring Training Reviews

All right folks, it’s Spring Training Time, and I’ve got a regimen of reviews for you to read that’ll get you into shape! If you read these reviews I’ve recently written and maybe even post a comment or two here or there, I guarantee that you’ll be super-buff in no time and be able to pick up a whole car with just one hand (well it might be a Hot Wheels car). So let’s get started, and thanks for reading my reviews!
This is just your typical LEGO movie game. It’s not like the other LEGO Marvel game; this one is just based on the Avengers movies and some of the other Marvel movies that are connected with it (Captain America, Thor, etc.). It’s all right, but I think Traveler’s Tales got their B team to work on this one as it’s not quite as good as other LEGO titles and it seems that they made it be better as a single player game, which is weird since most LEGO games are better when played with another person. LEGO Jurassic World and Dimensions were certainly better, and hopefully the upcoming LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be, too. Speaking of Dimensions, I have good news. I’ll be reviewing the Midway Arcade Level Pack soon! Yay!
Here’s another batch of amiibo figures I’ve gotten lately. These were pack-ins with a game. The first is a gold Mega Man amiibo from the special 3DS edition of Mega Man Legacy Collection. It’s an all-right game, but I’m disappointed that it has fewer games than the Mega Man Anniversary Collection that came out more than ten years ago. But I do like how much artwork and extras it has, and you don’t even have to unlock them. The other is a Wolf Link amiibo from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD. I like the HD game much better than the original I played back on the Wii nearly ten years ago! While the graphics are still pretty brown and plain, at least they are not muddy and smeary like they were on the Wii. I like the controls better on the Wii U as well. No more waggle, but you can still use the Wii U gamepad to aim, which is nice. Can you guess who my favorite characters in Twilight Princess are? Try to in the comments section.
Normally I don’t like to review free-to-play Candy Crush clones, but this had Pac-Man in it so you know I’d have to check it out. Unfortunately, it’s not that good. Which is a shame because when I first got my iPad a few years ago, there was another Candy Crush clone with Pac-Man in it called Pac-Man Chomp, and it was very good. But it’s not on the App store anymore.
Did you know that one of the folks who is in charge of PixlBit made this game? Travis Hawks did this one, and when it was available for iOS, I decided to check it out. It turned out better than what I thought it would, so I decided to review it at GamerDad.com. It’s not every day that you get to play a game made by someone you’ve talked to before! The game is like a cross between Flappy Bird and Ikaruga. I’m not sure if Travis would be happy with that comparison, but I call ‘em like I see ‘em! So if you’re curious, check it out! Way to go, Travis!
Shutshimi: Seriously Swole (Wii U)
This is a really unique shooter where you play as a goldfish with muscular arms who packs a gun. You shoot waves of sea creatures and other things, but each level only lasts a few seconds. Between rounds you pick something from a shop at random. It may be a power-up, or a power-down, or it might affect enemies or how the next level will be played. So it’s a bit like WarioWare mixed with a shooter. Serious shooter fans may find the randomness a bit annoying, but it’s still a lot of silly fun. I think it’s funny that one of the items gives your fish a yellow flattop, and they play Guile’s theme in the next level as you wear it. I wonder how that got past Capcom?
This is a top-down action RPG with characters and themes from Japanese history and mythology. It kind of reminds me of a slower-paced, more serious Pocky and Rocky. Sort of. The game is a bit slow, but it does remind me of something I would’ve rented as a kid back in the SNES days.
This indie game plays like a regular 2-D platformer, but you can only jump and perform other moves with the beat of the music. If you are not in rhythm, you won’t jump or climb or whatever. Normally I don’t like it when a game developer makes their game harder by messing with the controls, but it wasn’t so bad in this case. The main problem I had with this game was it was way too short. I beat it in a couple of days, and I wasn’t even playing it heavily. That’s one of the main problems I have with some indie games is that a lot of times they feel too short and unfulfilling.
And last is this mobile game where you just slash your finger across the screen to make waves of fire that destroy monsters. And that’s it. Nothing special and it’s been done before. Not much else to say about it.
Conclusions
And that’s all for now! Hope you enjoyed my review regimen workout and if you read and comment on them, you’ll be super strong and fit! Maybe! Thanks for reading and be sure to check out my next blog, which I’ll post on the first day of April. I got a big announcement that I got to let you all know about then! Later! --Cary
