DOOM beta

Years ago I had picked up this awesome little game called Wolfenstein:  The New Order.  I loved it so much I played through it three times back to back to back.  In fact, it was the first game I ever got a platinum trophy in...  That is all well and good, but that is not what I came here to say.  Tucked inside the case was a code for the DOOM beta, I redeemed the code for kicks and thought nothing more of it.

Well, the time has come and the DOOM beta starts in a couple of days.  For the first time in my life, I am thinking of participating.  Betas have never really appealed to me in the past, but this one has at least one draw for me.  I am excited for DOOM, but have little interest in the multiplayer.  I enjoy multiplayer games every once in a while, but usually they are developed by Bungie.  For me, the big draw for DOOM is the single-player campaign, but I want a taste of how the game feels and controls.  So that is why I am looking forward to jumping into the beta.  I don't necessarily seeing a demo coming out, those seem to be a relic of the past.  The beta seems to be my best option.  We will see if I have time to test it out and I will come back with impressions next week.

In other news, I have yet to pull up my Xbox from the basement for Half-Life 2.  CrimsonLand is still sucking too much of my time.  Especially since I was just trophy hunting and I think I have gotten all the ones that I am able to acheive.  My younger brother was over this weekend and beat Firewatch in one sitting.  I think he said he liked it.

I think he spent about 3 hours with the game.  So, I really should just sit down and play Firewatch...  same with Gone Home.  Especially since Steve Gaynor, one of the creators of Gone Home made my favorite Bioshock level, Pauper's Drop from Bioshock 2.

Doom beta. I wonder if I overlooked that in my copy of Wolfenstein The New Order that I have now traded. Maybe it's in The Old Order I have now? I'll give a look.

Interesting. I bought a copy of New Order awhile back, I should check if there is a code. Also have fun with the Beta. I have the last Doom game that was released and it was well let's just say I overpaid when I picked it up for $5 from the Target Clearance endcap.

I don't know how long they included a code in the box.  It might have only been the release day copies.

Is that DOOM 3 that you are talking about?  I didn't hate it, and am also thinking about replaying it, just because it has been years and I want to make pulling my Xbox 1 out of the basement.

My bad I got them confused with Duke Nukem on PS3. Doom 3 I own on PC and from what I could play on my older laptop it wasn't a bad game. I've actually tried to install it on my new laptop but I ran into a snag. Eventually I'll get it installed and running.

Oh yeah.  I picked up Duke Nukem Forver, played for an hour, which was way too long, then I returned the used copy to GameStop.  The guy who took the game back asked, "who sold you this piece of crap?"
