I've yet to play any of the Dark Souls games, not because I did not want to, I just get distracted by other things.
Dark Souls 3 Impressions

...It's good. Really bloody good. After 51 hours I can say it's definitely better than Dark Souls 2. Might even be better than Bloodborne in terms of mechanics if not thematically. There are secrets. Lots and lots of secrets. NPCs are on journey's of their own and act super mysteriously. The combat is good. There are so many weapons that I can't keep up - definitely encouraging replayability. It's literally everything I love about Dark Souls.
That said, it's not Dark Souls 1. I don't know that it can be. Dark Souls 1 is a product of limitation. Dark Souls 3 clearly has a budget behind it. It's nowhere near perfect, but it's so far, as a way to end the series they could do much worse.
And... I will write up a much more detailed review when I've finished. Or maybe when I've finished it twice. Warning, if my bloodborne review is anything to go on, it may be novel sized. For now though, I just want you to know that I'm enjoying it a lot, and the reason this blog is so vague, is honestly, because I'm going to play more.
