A Day with Drop Wizard

Drop Wizard icon Drop Wizard is a delightful little single screen action game. You play as the titular wizard and when you drop from one platform to the next you shoot a star out of your wand, which will stun an enemy if it hits one. You can then kick the enemy into other baddies and clear out a bunch at once. Your wizard runs automatically but you can change directions at anytime, so you do have good control over him. The levels don't wrap from side to side but they do from bottom to top, creating an endless loop for you to try to kill all the bad guys. There are big bosses too that can be surprisingly tough.

I like Drop Wizard a lot. It's graphics and sense of whimsy really remind me of Kirby (not to mention some of the enemy designs!), and the levels are short and simple enough to easily pick up and play. It will definitely be sticking around on my phone for a while.

Is that not pure Kirby??

aw, this is cute.  Is it free to play or does it cost money?  I wouldn't mind paying a buck for this.

It's $2 but totally worth it, I think. I've gone back to play it several times, which is kind of rare with random iPhones games for me. (Here's the link. Handy!)

What this really reminds me of are thsoe single screen maze puzzle platform games like Bubble Bobble, Snow Bros., Tumble Pop, and especially The Fairyland Story.  And I love those kinds of games so this interests me a lot!  How are the touch screen controls?  This kind of game looks like it would need to have very responsive controls since it looks like you would need to turn on a dime when you fall.  Also, how much is it?  Looks like it would make a great two-player game like the old ones.

The controls are really simple, thankfully, since you're just turning left or right. They're very responsive. You're the one I thought of when I played this one, so I hope you'll give it a chance. I think you'll like it. It's $2 on iTunes.
