Days of Future Pas—just kidding!

Last year I read X-Men: The Dark Phoenix Saga trade paperback and really enjoyed it. Last week I got the Days of Future Past TP from the library, started reading it, and discovered that it chronologically follows right after Dark Phoenix. That's a cool bonus for me but I was surprised to find out that most of the book has nothing to do with the titular story. I'm halfway through and the stories seem very insular, unlike Dark Phoenix where everything led to the moment of Jean Grey's death. They're not bad stories, just unrelated. I really liked the first issue in the book because it was basically a recap of all the X-Men comics up to that point. Cyclops was monologuing about everything the X-Men had been through and how he and Jean fit into it. That culminated in Cyclops taking a hiatus from the group to deal with his issues. Since I've read only Dark Phoenix, it was cool to get an overview of everything else that had happened.

I'm looking forward to getting to the Days of Future Past story but I still have one more issue about the Wendigo to get through first Tongue Out

I came across this picture while looking for the one above and thought it was pretty funny. Clever too.

I enjoyed Days of Future past.  I feel like it could have been stretched out and longer though. It certainly makes more sense than the movie!

I enjoyed the movie...but not as much as I expected to, and I can't really put my finger on why. But I know what you mean about things being able to go on longer. In the Knights of the Old Republic comics (which are really good, btw) one of the big story arcs culminates in the bad guy making his move and it's going to be catastrophic! And then it is immediately resolved—in a satisfying way, granted—but it feels like they could have ridden that story out a little longer.

Dude...love the Amiibo comic cover. So acurately parallels reality.

I remember trying to get the Mega Man amiibo for retail price. Waaaaay harder than it should have been.

I just noticed that tag on the Villager Amiibo says "AHAHAHA"! That's hilarious.

I haven't spent much time with the Xmen in comics.  I have read through Joss Whedon's run, Amazing Xmen?  Astonishing Xmen?  I don't really remember at the moment and don't really want to go through the effort of looking it up.  That and Grant Morrison's New Xmen run are the only ones that really come to mind.  I did enjoy them both.

I read Whedon's Astonishing X-Men as well. Really good! Thankfully that one came in a single volume. I'd like to read Morrison's run but my library system doesn't carry those and goodness, I wouldn't want to PAY for them Tongue Out

I'm glad I've got all the amiibo figures released so far.

Wait...all of them? Like, every last one? That's pretty amazing! Surprised
