yeah, Taki is a bit bouncy alright.
Bouncy Ninja Reviews

So my computer conked out on me after 5 to 6 years of service. I guess that’s pretty good, but I do wish they’d last longer, especially considering how much you pay for them. So now I’m writing this blog on my new computer, getting all used to Windows 10 and new programs and such. You know how it goes. Hopefully this one will last me a long time, too. Anyway, I got a new batch of reviews I’ve written recently over at GamerDad.com. Please click on the links below and read my reviews and maybe even post a comment or two here or there if you can. I’d really appreciate it. You’ll understand why I titled this blog “Bouncy Ninja” in a moment.
This game is significant because it’s Nintendo’s first foray into mobile gaming. Originally I wasn’t even planning to download and review this, but when I saw how earning My Nintendo coins was going to be incorporated into this game, I caved in. It’s an all right little app, just a scaled down version of Tomodatchi Life. I wasn’t even going to review this game, until I saw something that I figured parents should know about.
You see, in the game, they prompt questions for you to answer, and then you can share those answers with friends and they can comment on them and such. Some of the questions are pretty general, like what’s your favorite food, movie, etc. Some of them are just flat out weird. One time I was asked if I could squirt out any condiment from my finger, what would it be? That sounds like a question a bunch of stoners would ask each other.
Anyway, another question asked was what do I think of when I hear the word “ninja.” I put down Taki from Soul Calibur. And all the comments I got from my Miitomo friends were about Taki’s rather large breasts. And that’s not the first time something like that has happened. Either I need to watch what I say more, or my Miitomo friends have DIRTY MINDS! Ha ha! It really doesn’t bother me since I’m an adult, but anything goes in this game, including curse words, so I figured I’d write a quick review for GamerDad just to let parents know what to expect, especially since Nintendo is known mostly as a family friendly company. In my opinion, if your kid is not old enough for social media, they don’t need to be playing Miitomo either.
My Nintendo Picross: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (3DS)
So what did I spend the My Nintendo coins on? This game, of course! My Nintendo is the new Club Nintendo service. You are rewarded for doing things online and all the rewards are online only. So it’s not as good as Club Nintendo but in a way I can understand why they did it this way. I imagine sending out physical goodies was a logistics nightmare, and I’m sure people were taking advantage of things. This My Nintendo exclusive Picross game features characters and themes from Twilight Princess, and it’s fairly entertaining as a sort-of freebie download, so I decided to review it. I hope in the future; Nintendo makes a Kirby Picross! What kind of Picross game would you like them to make? Tell me in the comments section!
In space, no one can hear you tilt (well I thought that was clever). This is a set of three pinball tables from Zen Studios for their pinball platforms Zen Pinball 2 and Pinball FX2. One table is based on the newest Alien game that came out a couple of years ago, one is based on Aliens vs. Predator, and one is based on the movie sequel Aliens. That movie is significant because I think it was the first rated R movie I saw in a theater. Anyway, the tables are pretty fun, especially if you’re a fan of the Aliens franchise.
Angry Birds Movie Toys in McDonald’s Happy Meals
I just pooped out a little news bit since it was video game and kid related. I’d like to go see the Angry Birds movie out of curiosity, but I can certainly wait until it hits the dollar theater or when it comes out on video. Angry Birds is a fairly entertaining little game, but I don’t think it’s movie worthy.
Chronicles of Teddy: Harmony of Exidus (Wii U)
I REALLY wanted to like this game, I really did. It’s a retro-styled 2-D platformer with Metroid elements. But it was too buggy and the play control was very clunky so I had to give it a bad review. It reminded me a little bit of FEZ but that’s not a good thing. FEZ was kind of fun until you got to a point where you did nothing but enter secret codes, and you do the same thing in this game. But I hate giving bad reviews. Especially since this game was published by Aksys and they’ve been very supportive of me during most of their existence. But I have to be honest when I write reviews, even if the game is from a company I respect.
Well the rest of the games are just iPad titles. This one is a puzzle game that’s hard to describe, but you don’t really do any folding in it. Just read the review if you’re interested. It is a fun little puzzler regardless.
This game mixes 2-D retro dungeon crawling with a trivia game. It kind of reminds me a bit of Capcom’s old arcade game Quiz & Dragons (never saw it in an arcade, but did play it on one of their collections). Dungenious lacks Capcom’s early 90’s arcade charm, and it is a bit amateurish, but the game is still kind of fun anyway.
In this game you hop down a mountain made of cubes while avoiding obstacles. It’s a LOT like Q*bert, but not near as much fun. I’d rather just play Q*bert instead.
And last is this game where you walk and rotate around little planetoids avoiding obstacles and picking up things. It has one touch controls and reminds me of other games like Mighty Milky Way and Star Trigon, although I’m sure very few of you have heard of those games.
And that’s all for now! Thanks for reading my reviews and posting comments here and there. I really appreciate it. Later! --Cary
