It's Hard to Reset ;_;

All the excitement around new Doom got me hyped for playing "Hard Reset Redux" on PC.  I remember the game came out a while ago, if you don't know Hard Reset is a first person shooter with a cyber punk setting. It's a fairly simple and old school design with a wonderful art style. Sometimes I just want to shoot a bunch of robots instead of zombies or soldiers. I prefer playing FPS games on PC rather than console, and my PC cant really handle newer big releases so I like that I can play a fun new great looking shooter at full settings with no slowdown. It's very arcadey. I'd have to play Doom on PS4 if I was really interested, but Hard Reset on Steam is fine for now.

Anyhow, the Hard to Reset  title up there was referring to the game I'm playing right now: Assassins Creed: Liberation, that once PSVita exclusive starring female protaginst Aveline set in Louisiana. The thing is I just ran into a bug that got me locked in the animus and there is no way of continuing the story without deleting and starting over. I never had issues playing the first time. I enjoyed the game at the time and wanted to revisit it again. I remember there were issues with the game that caused people to shit all over Ubisoft back then, much like with a lot of the AC games recently, but I never had issues until now. I re-installed tha game and updated with latest patch and see how it goes from there. I've only ever played AC2 and Liberation, but I just felt like running around rooftops, seducing and killing perverts in nice hooker outfits-- like the opposite of a GTA game.

Also, it is hot as fuck in Los Angeles, so I cant really play PC games until mid fall/winter. I'm not gonna blast the air conditioner just to play a little PS4 here and there. I'm limited to portables, mobile and late night gaming when nights are a bit cooler. Aside from that I'm spending more time outdoors due to the heat as there are a few parks around my neighborhood.

Also, I have a new favorite show. Outcast. It's from the comic creator of Walking Dead and its very creepy. The show starts off with a kid slamming his head against his bedroom wall to smash a bug. I'm hooked! Here is a little synopsis: Kyle Barnes, a man who has been possessed by demons since he was young. His search for answers -- and redemption -- leads him into a relationship with Reverend Anderson, a West Virginia evangelist who believes he is fighting in a holy war against Earth's evil forces.

and here is the Bloodborne-like poster. Like eww:

and thats it. I saw X-Men: Apocolypse and enjoyed it a lot. I'm not sure why people are trashing it more than BatmanvSup. as I enjoyed it more than Civil War and Deadpool, but I have a bias towards X-Men and I quite enjoyed the mall and quicksilver scenes, actually a lot more than just those scenes. Brian Singer said he's stepping away from directing which is interesting because I was curious to see where else he was going to go. My top list for comic films this year goes like this then:

1. X-Men: Apacolypse
2. Deadpool
3. Civil War
4. Batman v Superman

I just need to see the Turtles next.

Oh, and I got the new DC Rebirth comic and enjoyed that as well. It's supposabley the most DC thing DC has done in a while, and I like that Watchmen is being incorporated into the universe. It was a fun read.

I also got the new Captain America before the internet imploded with outrage, but the only shocking thing I found was how white power it was. I could see a kid reading the book and sympathisizing with nazis with its American History X opening storyline and Caps turn in the end. I found it quite uncomfortable. It has a very X-men anti-prejudice feel to it all. I'm not a fan of Avengers but it was a riveting read. I little too on the nose with current events and social issues, maybe thats why? Will keep reading more?

I just read a post online about how physical comic book sales are doing well despite the unlimited service apps offering digital downloads, which is quite cool. Holding a comic and re-reading them just isnt the same on a tablet. Not as enjoyable for me anyway.

I used to play FPS games on PC up until '05 or so. Hard Reset Redux looks amazing. It makes me want to play PC games again.

I liked X-Men Apocalypse but maybe not as much as Deadpool, so my list would be:

1.Deadpool
2. X-Men: Apocalypse
3. Civil War
4. Batman v Superman

Single player FPS basically dried up. Unless you include MP games like Team Fortress, Counter-Strike, etc. Hard Reset is very old school though. I approve of your list. I could swap Deadpool/Xmen. I enjoyed both, but I think Xmen just had more.

It does have more. More to think about, but I was more entertained by Deadpool.

I mean I loved both. Deadpool was a surprise, while Xmen has been going for years and still good. I wonder if Deadpool can do that, like 10+ years later.

I was surprised by Deadpool too. I almost didn't see it.

I had been following the community push it received to get made. That's why it was so fan servicy, the fans bugged the hell out of the studio and Ryan Reynolds got involved too. It will be awesome to see them add more X-men and make them like the comics.

I didn't see batman/supes or Xmen.  Don't know if I will.  I can't stand Bryan Singer, personally.  I loved First Class though.

I think I might check out this DC Rebirth though.  I'm kind of played out on Marvel a little, and well, the cinematic universe is really good.  But I've been getting more into DC type comics in the past couple years.

Well Singer is all over Apocolypse. It feels like Xmen 1 redux honestly, but still liked it. DC Rebirth was a fun read. I'm not sure what is meant when people say 'the most DC' DC has done yet? I guess people hated New52 and are glad to DC is going back to earlier storylines I guess and pre New52 chars are returning. We shall see. I personally enjoyed Scott Snyder and Capullos run on Batman with New52 and I'm curious to see what they will do here.

"The Most DC DC Has Done Yet?"  that's bizarre.

New52 rebooted the DC Universe and discontinued or stopped some of the older storylines/chars. People were pissed about this. I myself was into Batman Incorporated until it also was discontinued due to New52. Now it seems old DC is back again I suppose, not totally sure what the new deal is. Just gotta read to find out I suppose?

I'm going to have to add Hard Reset to my Steam wishlist. I completely forgot about this game.

Ended up buying Hard Reset Redux. 85% off if you own the original HR, or if you own Shadow Warrior (2013) and I do own this one.

Cool! You  got a discount! I need to try shadow warrior now.

Hard Redux is fun, but some of the upgrades are useless. There';s barely any visual difference, the sword is pretty much useless (they give it to you then swarm with kamikazi bots). It's fun, but Hard Reset was never my favourite of these kinds of games. I prefer Painkiller, Serious Sam, or the new Shadow Warrior. Pro tip with this game though, get the shotgun first, makes the game much more fun.

Haven't watched Outcast yet, will have to soon though. Have you watched Preacher yet? God that's good. I actually like the shows version of Tulip more than the comic's (I know, blasphemy) and this version of Cass is fucking awesome. It's quirky, whimsical, gory and insane.

Haven't gotten around to DC rebirth. The Preacher show has gotten me on somewhat of a Vertigo kick, so I've been reading Sandman, Swamp Thing, and, well, Preacher.

The big appeal of Hard Redux for me is the cyberpunk setting. Atmosphere is important to me and I just felt like shooting robots n things. Thats enough to carry me through the game. I'm not that picky.

I have to give those other FPS you mentioned a try. I think I've mentioned before that FPS arent really my thing, but horror and cyberpunk are. There was also a Western shooter a while back that I really liked,Call of Juarez, so Im a hypocrite. Whatever, I like Hard Redux.

The thing about Preacher is that it's tied to Seth Rogen who I don't really like. I was expecting Preacher to have some gross comedy, especially after seeing screenshots of a character with an anus for a mouth. I'll have to give it a try. It seems to be getting good reactions. Outcast is more interesting to me. Did you watch the Constantine TV show? Isn't that what Preacher is supposed to be like? I got  free Preacher TV comic when I bought Rebirth. I'll check out the show and comic. Also, Outcast has a comic, so I need to try that as well, but I like the show and don't want to spoil it by reading the comic.

Seth Rogen doesn't have that much to do with the show outside of funding and co-directing it. He loves the comic and wants to see it on screen. Assface isn't played for laughs, and he doesn't actually have an Anus for a face. That's just something bullies call him and it sticks.

Preacher is a bit silly in places, but super serious in others. It's really offbeat and insane, but also dark and brooding. The mix is a bit off at the moment, but it definitely has potential.

I just watched the first episode of Outcast and it was decent. Reminds me of Hannibal for some reason, at least in terms of tone and protagonist. But demonic posessions aren't my horror jam as they all tend to play out somewhat similarly. Hopefully it isn't just the main character exorcising a demon every week, because that would get old pretty quickly. But I'm interested enough in the tone and character to keep going.

As for games, Painkiller is basically more frantic Hard Reset with a horror aesthetic, though it also has ninja's in it's not super serious horror. It has a few levels with some decent suspense though.

Although if you like atmospheric shooters that can run on old hardware, have you tried Singularity? It kind of blatantly rips off Bioshock and a few other games, but it also has a gun that ages people in an instant, and a sniper rifle where you can control the bullet after you fire it, so all is forgiven.

I'd also recommend picking up Metro 2033, but maybe the redux on PS4 since it's a bit demanding on PC. Goddamn that game is atmosphere incarnate, and just a really solid little survival horror shooter.

My only main gripe with Outcast is that a big mystery was revealed at the end which would have been better revealed later in the Season as it's already been renewed for Season 2, that mystery would have been more captivating. When Kyle was beating that kid in the end and then flashing back to his mom, it was just disturbing and dark, but then they revealed a monster and it kind of deflated the shock. I liked the slow, depressing mood for a change. There is also a show called PennyDreadful that is very gothic victorian horror like HP Lovecraft, with vampires, witches, werewolf and frankenstain that is quite good if you like old horror.

Wow Doom looks GOOD! I'm going to wait a bit before giving it a spin and it seems like my laptop can run it if I drop the settings a bit, but I have hope considering Just Cause 3 runs fine and people have problems with that game.

I really enjoyed X-Men and it seems the folks who hate it are people who were hoping for something more faithful to the comics. I get their anger (still pissed about how GI Joe and Transformers were handled) but I think as a summer popcorn flick it delivered. I haven't seen Deadpool yet, but other than that flick I agree with your rankings.

I read that issue of Captain America and I do like the tease of the end during the flashback portions where the color red was dominant. I'm not a fan of Cap but I'm interested to see where they take this storyline and if we will see it incorporated in the Cinematic Universe.

I think the hate for the Xmen was the expectation that since the timeline was altered, Fox would imitate Marvel Films and give us a direct adaptation of the comics/cartoons like the Avengers, but instead we got a continuation of the old films from 2000, so it was all for nothing. I don't feel this way as I feel the Marvel films are very bland. The Xmen just have more interesting, creative powers that are fun to watch for me. I still love the Blinx portals from days of future past, Quicksilver scenes in both films and Fassbender and McAvoys performances. I'm bias I guess.

I'm not a fan of Cap comics either, but I liked this story enough that I will finish the arc.
