All the excitement around new Doom got me hyped for playing "Hard Reset Redux" on PC. I remember the game came out a while ago, if you don't know Hard Reset is a first person shooter with a cyber punk setting. It's a fairly simple and old school design with a wonderful art style. Sometimes I just want to shoot a bunch of robots instead of zombies or soldiers. I prefer playing FPS games on PC rather than console, and my PC cant really handle newer big releases so I like that I can play a fun new great looking shooter at full settings with no slowdown. It's very arcadey. I'd have to play Doom on PS4 if I was really interested, but Hard Reset on Steam is fine for now.
Anyhow, the Hard to Reset title up there was referring to the game I'm playing right now: Assassins Creed: Liberation, that once PSVita exclusive starring female protaginst Aveline set in Louisiana. The thing is I just ran into a bug that got me locked in the animus and there is no way of continuing the story without deleting and starting over. I never had issues playing the first time. I enjoyed the game at the time and wanted to revisit it again. I remember there were issues with the game that caused people to shit all over Ubisoft back then, much like with a lot of the AC games recently, but I never had issues until now. I re-installed tha game and updated with latest patch and see how it goes from there. I've only ever played AC2 and Liberation, but I just felt like running around rooftops, seducing and killing perverts in nice hooker outfits-- like the opposite of a GTA game.
Also, it is hot as fuck in Los Angeles, so I cant really play PC games until mid fall/winter. I'm not gonna blast the air conditioner just to play a little PS4 here and there. I'm limited to portables, mobile and late night gaming when nights are a bit cooler. Aside from that I'm spending more time outdoors due to the heat as there are a few parks around my neighborhood.
Also, I have a new favorite show. Outcast. It's from the comic creator of Walking Dead and its very creepy. The show starts off with a kid slamming his head against his bedroom wall to smash a bug. I'm hooked! Here is a little synopsis: Kyle Barnes, a man who has been possessed by demons since he was young. His search for answers -- and redemption -- leads him into a relationship with Reverend Anderson, a West Virginia evangelist who believes he is fighting in a holy war against Earth's evil forces.
and here is the Bloodborne-like poster. Like eww:
and thats it. I saw X-Men: Apocolypse and enjoyed it a lot. I'm not sure why people are trashing it more than BatmanvSup. as I enjoyed it more than Civil War and Deadpool, but I have a bias towards X-Men and I quite enjoyed the mall and quicksilver scenes, actually a lot more than just those scenes. Brian Singer said he's stepping away from directing which is interesting because I was curious to see where else he was going to go. My top list for comic films this year goes like this then:
1. X-Men: Apacolypse
2. Deadpool
3. Civil War
4. Batman v Superman
I just need to see the Turtles next.
Oh, and I got the new DC Rebirth comic and enjoyed that as well. It's supposabley the most DC thing DC has done in a while, and I like that Watchmen is being incorporated into the universe. It was a fun read.
I also got the new Captain America before the internet imploded with outrage, but the only shocking thing I found was how white power it was. I could see a kid reading the book and sympathisizing with nazis with its American History X opening storyline and Caps turn in the end. I found it quite uncomfortable. It has a very X-men anti-prejudice feel to it all. I'm not a fan of Avengers but it was a riveting read. I little too on the nose with current events and social issues, maybe thats why? Will keep reading more?
I just read a post online about how physical comic book sales are doing well despite the unlimited service apps offering digital downloads, which is quite cool. Holding a comic and re-reading them just isnt the same on a tablet. Not as enjoyable for me anyway.
