Pick-ups Backlog #3: Time Quackers

Hello everyone. I'm late posting stuff as usual. Thought I'd get it done on Monday and here it is Friday already.  So let's get right to it. Here's what rounded out my game purchases for April.

Conuntining on my quest to secure the PS1\PS2 Time Crisis series I stumbled acros this one. I always knew that the Time Crisis games were bundled with the lastest GunCon at the time of release. However, I had never seen one bundled with two guns in the same box. Admittedly, back in the day, I wasn't always paying attention differences like this, so it easily got past me.

So I decided to get the set so I can play in double barrel mode.  I've always been cuious about that. Besides some shelf ware on the box, everything looks brand new as if it was never touched. While I did boot it up to test that the game works, I haven't actually played it or used the guns yet.  I'll get to it eventualaly though.

And finally, I got DuckTales again! Someone sold it for much less than people typically try to get for it, so it was a sold purchase for me.  Everyone praises this game to death, so I won't bore you with what you've already heard. I've beaten DuckTales Remastered on the PS3, but still never completed this one. I'm determined to succeed in doing so this time around.

That's all for today folks! Tune in next week (I hope).

I got a copy of DuckTales a couple months ago from GameStop.  I thought that the $20 they were asking wasn't too bad.

The GameStop in your area sell NES games? Yeah, I think $20 is about what i paid for mine to. Totally reasonable these days.

Not the physical store.  They have a retro classics tab hidden on their website where they have NES, SNES, GB, GBC, GBA, PSOne, Genesis and now Saturn games.

Ah, gotcha. That makes sense.

that ducktales cart looks nice and clean.

that time crisis set is freakin sweeeeet.

I wish I had the space / time / money for some retro stuff.  Someday I'd like to have a little extra room or basement where I can go nuts.

Yep, that DuckTales cart is indeed clean. Very happy about that.

I'm quickly running out of space for game purchases. I think I'm going to start getting rid of stuff that I don't actually play or like and just focus on getting stuff that I know I'd want to keep. My "collecting" days are over. Besides, what's the point of having stuff you don't even like?  Bragging rights or the prospect of charging insane amounts of money because people are hard-pressed enough to pay it just doesn't do it for me.

I can't remember which one, but one of the home version Time Crisis games has mini-games based on other Namco arcade gun shooters.  One is Shoot Away, which is very old, and the other is Quick & Crash, which is a newer game where you had to shoot targets and break a real mug!  I wonder how they got that to work?

I love the DuckTales game.  It's pretty easy to beat.  I beat it tons of times as a kid, so I know you'll be able to beat it, too!

Did you know that Alan Young, the voice of Scrooge McDuck, passed away recently? :(

I think it's Time Crisis II that has the extra shooting games on it. I didn't that Alan Young died. Man, he was the perfect voice for Scrooge McDuck.

I got to the last part of Ducktales Remastered and couldn't get past it, got frustrated, and quit. I might go back to it.

I am spoiled, so many local independent stores that sell retro games in my area.

Man, I wished I lived in your neck of the woods. How are the prices?

Pretty reasonable for most things. Bull Moose Music has a set price for games based on systems that are older than the PS2/GC/Xbox era. They're all under $10. PS2, GC, and Xbox are varied, according to rarity, I think, but I've never seen one priced higher than $25. The other stores vary, and I think their pricing may be competitive with various internet sites. I did once come across an unopened, mint condition copy of Dragon Warrior for way too much money for my bank account (it was over $100, I draw the line at $80).

That's a really cool Time Crisis game. I used to have some of those Guncons. Not sure what happened to them, but I want them back now.

I've heard that Time Crisis 3 is the best of the PS2 series. I hope that's true.

My friend Mark played the heck out of one of the TIme Crisis games. I forget which one but I remember watching him play it.

I consider Time Crisis my favorite of rail-shooters. I've been thinking in trying to emulate them on my PC.

Yeah, so far the first Time Crisis is still my favorite one because that's the one I first played in the arcades. It was so well done on the PlayStation as a ported arcade game. I still haven't beaten the extra mission though.
