Good morning Pixlpeeps! Before I head off to get my day started I wanted to give some thoughts about the one presentation I always watch during E3, and that was Sony’s. The only reason why I watch Sony’s is because that’s the only console I actually care about. X-Box and Nintendo consoles I tend to buy a generation later so it really doesn’t matter to me what is the latest and greatest for them because when I buy games for other consoles they are usually older titles. Overall I liked the Sony presentation because it was (borrowing from a Sum 41 album title) All Killer, No Filler. Their presentation started strong and didn’t let up for an hour. If you follow me on Twitter (sorry for live tweeting) I shared my thoughts about the presentation. Overall there was only one game I wanted and that was the new God of War. Everything else showcased were solid but they weren’t “must haves” for me.

I started looking for a feed an hour before the presentation and I knew IGN had one so they were my backup. I used the Sony Live app on the PS4 and 30 minutes into the show it was constantly loading. First let me tell you that you can’t exit that app by hitting circle if you haven’t updated it. I was caught in a loop and had to hit the Sony button to get out. I got everything fixed and it was on, but the next problem was with 15 minutes till showtime the loading problem. It would play 30 seconds of a live feed, stutter and then go to a different language. Kind of a pain so I didn’t watch until the 6pm start. By that point it was up and running.

The orchestra was a nice touch and having them perform the live game music was awesome. Great job Sony!

God Of War: I want this game. It looked great but like I mentioned on Twitter the footage they showed was amazing but how is it really going to look? Also when the background music started I did call it when I tweeted something about just announce New God of War.

The Last Guardian: This game I know wasn’t meant for me. I remember the video they showed last year, and this year there was a little more but with a year in between I would have liked to have seen actual gameplay. The art style is really nice, and I am curious to see how this game will turn out.

Horizon Zero Dawn: Another game showcased last year, and this year there was more in depth game footage. Last year I thought it was Brave meets Steampunk and this year it seems like an interesting game to check out. It’s not on my must have list so I can wait a bit.

Detroit Become Human: This game is definitely not made for me. The premise is good, choose your own adventure, and it sounds like it could be a totally different experience each time, but I’m more into playing a game once, enjoying it, and then moving on. There has to be a lot to this game because replaying a scenario sounds like it is more suited for digital download game than full on retail release.

Resident EVII.: Another “wow this game looks good” title. Another game I won’t play but I am happy for you Resident Evil fans, it looks like you’re in for a treat. Also love the Resident EVII. wordmark.

Days Gone: I’m not interested in a Sons of Anarchy meets Walking Dead game. I’m tired of everything zombie. This will be a skip for me. *watch in a couple of years I will probably have played this game and raved about how good it is

Spider-Man: I hope it’s good. I didn’t care for the previous Spider-Man games other than to roam around New York.

Crash Bandicoot: Ok I was excited to hear the music, and see the background light up for Crash. Finally a new game, something that isn’t all doom and gloom but then it was announced that it was going to be a remaster. Serious a remaster? I’m sorry I might be in the minority but when I bought the PS4, I bought it for new content, not prettier versions of games I already played.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare: This game looks like a load of fun, and I thought would have been perfect for the VR Sony was pushing. I’m not going to play this right away because I tend to buy my shooters when they hit $10 range because I only play Single Player, but this game looks like there is going to be a lot of fun. I could care less about the bundled Modern Warfare remaster.

VR Stuff: I did say that the showing of Batman and Star Wars could sway me into buying a VR headset but after a couple of hours to reflect I am going to wait. I’m not big on the VR hype (remember when everyone was nuts over 3D?) and besides I can’t be the only person who has the Sony motion control stuff sitting collecting dust. Anyways I’m taking a wait and see approach. Will Batman and Star Wars live up to teaser hype (that I built up) or is it something that I can wait on until a steep price drop. We shall see.

Anyways those are my thoughts about Sony’s presser. I’m curious to your views and if there is anything I should check out. Have a good one!

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

I'm not a big Crash Bandicoot fan but it is nice to see Sony doing something cheeful and whimsical in their lineup.

Since I've been blind in my left eye since birth, it's hard for me to get excited about the VR stuff since I may not be able to see it very well.  If everything goes VR in the future, I don't know what I'll do.  I may not be able to review games anymore, and that's a bit depressing to me, since I've been able to do this for nearly 20 years with no problems.

It would have been nice if Sony's announced a new Crash game. Something other than Zombies, Remasters, stuff you can find on other consoles, and VR.

Sony killed it.  I have to admit I was kind of blah about E3 this year until it got started, so I guess low expectations help the enjoyment of it. I am especially hyped about Crash, Spiderman, and the VR star wars thing.  Oh man that stuff looks great!

Sony put on a heck of a presentation. I didn't watch other presentations but Twitter thinks Sony did well. I did try and catch part of Nintendo's but once it was announced it was only going over Zelda I tuned out. At least its a new Zelda.

Never really cared for the God of War games, but wow the new game looked really good. It's like the Last of Us team decided to make the new God of War or something.

I loved Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, so I'm getting the Last Guardian day one. I have to admit, it doesn't look that exciting, but Ico never looked that exciting either and I love that game.

I'm more of a Microsoft gamer, but Sony's conference absolutely left it in the dust this E3.

I own both SotC and Ico and I just can't get into them. Maybe if I try now it'll be different. God Of War is just mindless fun. The only thing I heard about Microsoft is something about buying an XBox 1 game and getting the PC game for free and vice versa. As someone who doesn't own a current XBox I'm intrigued by this because now I can play those games on PC.

Horizon Zero Dawn looks pretty cool. Environments in games are getting seriously WOW.

I'm hoping that Sony doesn't do a bait and switch with the game and have graphics that look as good as that. If that is what the game looks like than damn it is a pretty game.

Yea, always be a little skeptical of these demonstration videos. Sometimes they are just not true to the actual game.
