I used to watch Voltron when I was a little kid. I'll try and watch the new one on Netflix soon. I'm glad Netflix has Animaniacs. I've been watching that lately. Also they have a brand new Danger Mouse cartoon. I used to watch the old one on Nickelodeon a long time ago. Hey if you get a chance, check out my E3 blog!

Good morning Pixlpeeps and Happy Friday! For me the weekend is here and I am ready to once again do nothing but be lazy, rip records, and maybe do some cleaning. Oh and there is another WWE pay per view that I will watch along with episode 9 of Game of Thrones. You know episode 9, something big happens and a big name character, or characters get killed off. Anyways let’s get started with another Quick Hits!
Chris Watches…
OJ Made In America – ABC/ESPN: This is another 30 For 30 but unlike the others this is a five part series dealing with the OJ Simpson Murder Trial. Unlike FX’s The People vs. OJ Simpson, which I called The OJ Show, there was a lot of unintended humor like Ross Gellar from Friends as Robert Kardashian, and why did John Travolta look like someone always farted next to him. Made in America is all serious business and since I remember watching the NBA Finals when the Juice decided to clear out the 405 freeway its all a big flashback to me along with new information.
Since my cable company is a complete waste of time (I miss you Verizon) I can’t watch on the episodes on the ESPN app because my cable company (Again I miss you Verizon) refuses to fix the problem where I can’t stream anything from ESPN, HBO, and Showtime. At least tonight is the next installment. I told my friend they should have aired this episode last night and had the NBA Finals game on a small window in the corner of the screen like they did for OJ’s chase down the 405 freeway.
Voltron – Netflix: I loved Voltron! I had the Japanese Yellow Lion, the one with the springs in its guns on its back, and the ones that were in its ears. The American version didn’t shoot. I also had the full set of the American Lions and the crazy Land, Sea, and Air Voltron. Anyways I was intrigued by the announcement of this because it could be terrible, or it could be good. I watched part of the first episode and I’m not really impressed with it, but I’m keeping an open mind until I can watch more episodes. After all I didn’t like Daredevil when I first watched it and now I dig it.
Daredevil – Netflix: I tried to watch it at the Gym during my treadmill time but after the first violent scene I thought it would be better to not watch especially when there was another person in the next treadmill kind of watching.
There really isn’t any other shows I’m watching other than Below Deck: Mediterranean, The Challenge, and Game of Thrones.
Chris Listens To…
Gradually I’ve been going through the mixtape portion of my iTunes library, and I removed all the tapes that have a DJ yelling their name out at the start of every track. I pulled I think five this past week and I am currently at 192 Mixtapes, and around 500 songs that I haven’t listened to. I might further cut this down to get rid of Mixtapes from Artist I like but I didn’t enjoy their tapes. Also a couple of artists I no longer care for.
I’m still adding records to my library. I almost finished going through one of the two remaining block shelves and then onto the two stacks on the floor. I’m currently listening to a German Beer Garden Album as I type this. I have no idea what they’re saying but it’s lively. One of my records is a recording of the Philippine Brass Band where they play traditional Filipino songs, but the one drawback is that on Side B there is a gnarly scratch. I’m disappointed but what can you do.
One thing I’ve noticed is albums from the early 70s seem to be a lot shorter than albums of today. It seems like each record has ten tracks and listening to them goes by quickly. I tend to have four records I ripped last night and earlier this morning on my phone and after a couple of hours I am almost finished with the final album on the playlist.
As for my usual, last week I was at 12,054 unplayed tracks. Well turns out that I had the option of having iCloud tracks available on my iTunes active. I turned this off and immediately that number dropped to 11,800 or so. After erasing five mixtapes and doing my usual of night listening to the albums I ripped earlier in the day I am currently at
I’m back on a solid pace and hopefully by the end of the year I can listen to everything in my library and have it rated.
Pickups!
Games
I’m trying not to buy any games until the Steam Summer Sale but the Amazon and Playstation deal of $5 for Battlefield Hardline is tempting. We’ll see if I can hold off.
Music
I bought some CDs at Target earlier this morning
I finally got around to picking up the Kendrick Lamar Untitled Album. I enjoyed his previous albums and I’m excited to listen to this while playing some games later on today.
What can I say about Fifth Harmony? I do love me some reality shows and they were the group assembled from solo artists that Simon Cowell put together. I have their EP’s and first album (?) so it was fitting to grab this one.
I don’t know much about this group. They were mentioned a couple of times on YouTube, but I think I heard one of their songs and thought it was catchy. I decided to pick up the album as well and give them a listen. As soon as I finish ripping Heart’s Dreamboat Annie, I’ll add these CDs to the library.
In other items I bought some top loaders for trading cards. A couple of weeks ago I bought a couple of wax boxes and I started opening them a couple of days ago while watching OJ Made In America
And I can’t find the top loaders I bought a while ago so while at Walmart I picked up
I pulled five holograms so far and I still have maybe 10 packs to go.
Alright Pixlpeeps, I am off. Keep cool, it’s going to be triple digits here (120 on Monday) and I’m gonna camp out under the AC vent in the house. Have a good weekend!
That’s all for now, more later!
-Chris
For this week’s song I decided to go with a song that I found by accident while ripping Fleetwood Mac’s Bare Trees Album. I remember the remake being played by my parents when I was younger. I found this track and it is currently on repeat on the phone when not listening to my vinyl playlist
A couple of thoughts: It’s amazing how different Fleetwood Mac sounds pre Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham. I still love the songs Christine McVie is featured on but damn their version of this song is just so good. Anyways have a good weekend!
