I've been playing the closed beta for Paragon on PS4 this weekend, and it's basically League of Legends. Not sure if it's a bad or good thing, as the same problems I had with MOBAs are still here, or for others there might not be a problem at all. If you've played Leage or Dota, then you'll be familar with the basic gameplay of this game, instead of having an overhead camera view, you have an 3rd person view and changing the camera view makes everything feel alot more exciting. The game looks gorgeous and I had fun playing against the AI, but this is a multiplayer game, and the only way to unlock expert characters is to play with others, and thus the fun stopped after a few games with randoms. I learned quite a bit about MOBAs when I played League and DOTA2, but the game just isn't fun for me unless you are playing with friends. The first few random games had players running around the map, not communicating or following directions, thus a 30min match went on for over an hour. I'm not sure what the experience would be with a party of friends. Maybe this game is harder or more complicated or less complicated? Not sure. It's pretty streamlined and accessible but there might be balancing issues with certain characters since the game is still in development. I'll keep playing with randoms and try out more characters. For some reason this game pulled me in a lot more than most MOBAs have, and the only one I ever really cared about was the DC comics one because Gaslight Batman of course! Anyone else following this game? Theres supposed to be an open beta in a few months.
