The PS4 Saga Continues

Well this new unit made it 6 days before the not starting thing kicked in. I also found out from my son that it has shut down twice without warning.

This morning I got a brief blue light, followed by a beep and then nothing. I unplugged the power cable and the HDMI, waiting a minute or so and then plugged them back in again. This time it started.

I'm amazed that this has not received as much press as it should have. Two units from two stores in two different cities and they are both defective. WTF?

Has it reached the point where gamers expect their consoles to be poorly designed defective pieces of crap and they just shrug and perform whacked out rituals in order to play games, or have I won the lemon lottery twice in a row.

Not a happy camper right now. I know I can get it replaced but I'd have to go through all the setup crap all over again including downloading all my games and I'm not sure I have the desire to go through that again.

maybe something in your setup is freakin it out?  Sounds really lame man. sometimes mine shuts off lame, and the fan gets noisy sometimes, but otherwise I'm ok. I was just playing it right now in fact. did you get some sort of special edition or the regular ps4?

I thought I put the picture in my original blog. It's the Uncharted 4 Blue PS4. It's sitting out in the open so I know it's not overheating from being enclosed. I played Arc the Lad Twighlight of the Spirits on it for about 3 hours today without a problem. I'm not sure what causes the shutdowns or the not powering up but it's fucking annoying.

Maybe try the normal model?  I work in retail and we've had a few come back with similar issues but only a small percentage compared to units sold.  Sucks that you got two though.  I'd complain to Sony.

Wow, that sucks. I've had mine since launch and it still runs like a dream. Definitely contact Sony about this.

Sony is supposed to unvail the new PS4 slim and the PS 5 ( NEO ) this month at the Tokyo Game Show.

I'm giving this one a bit of a chance. I bought a vertical stand for it today because I've heard that helps. The EB Games manager at a nearby store is also a friend so I know I can just keep taking them back if they're broken. It's the pain of installing games over and over again that is the biggest pain in the ass.

I can understand that. I've become tight with the GS I go to. Those guys are good. I am just waiting on the GoW Edition PS 5 for next December to be announced. That is what I am getting. If it is the Slim then I guess I will get the slim. GoW is a reason to get the new console.

Your luck does seem incredibly bad in this situation :( Maybe you should just wait and save and buy the inevitable redesigned/upgraded PS4 that coming out sometime. Maybe that will work better for you :/

Mine's ok so far but I haven't used it much yet.

I personally would wait until they release the updated PS4, but that's just me. Really sucks that you got bad luck with your PS4s.

This is terrible that you've run into TWO defective consoles. Is it because you got the special edition one? You spend that kind of money on an item you expect it to work, and not have to jump through hoops to shut down the dang thing because it might break. C'mon Sony.

I periodically reset my PS3 to factory settings and then I re-download everything. Never again! I have too many digital games and add ons to do that again. I feel your pain!
