I'm 24 Today!

Hey guys, it's my birthday. I'm 24, which I find utterly insane. It's been a somewhat mixed couple of years, as becoming an adult tends to be. It's even weirder for college students, since college acts as a further adolescence, not really teaching you anything about the outside world apart from stress and how important a support circle can be.

I'm 24 and I haven't really accomplished all that much. That sucks, but I'm passed being worried by it. I've got my goals now and I'm working towards them. If I don't accomplish them, fuck it, I'll just try again.

Honestly, though it hasn't been a great day. Not an awful day, it's just a few niggling things went wrong, like the fact that my copy of Scott Pilgrim Vs The World has no audio, my copy of Kill Bill has no subtitles for the Japanese parts (roughly a quarter of the film) and those are the two movies I wanted to watch for my birthday. Other than that it's just been one of those days where I felt down for no reason, and playing Battlefield 4 doesn't help when my team keeps killing me because they either want vehicles or because they don't like other people at the capture points because it means other people get more  points than them.

Oh, and Metro is still the worst fucking map ever made. Every game I've played has ended with Russia getting pushed back to their base and constantly getting spawn killed. Seriously, it's fucking rubbish.

But fuck it, onto the good!

Bilby bought me INSIDE for my birthday, and all I'm going to say is BUY THIS FUCKING GAME! Seriously, I know it's only 3 hours for $20 but fuck you, you pay more than that to see far worse films. I finished it in one sitting, and I'm planning on playing it again very soon to see if I can get all the secrets.

I seriously can't say anything about this game other than go in blind. If you liked Limbo, play this. Shit, even if you didn't like Limbo, try this, as it is roughly 10 billion times better in every conceivable way. This game is better than Dark Souls 3. You know who the fuck you're talking to right?

Anyway, Bilby also got me those 3 books as well, which rounds out my Abercrombie collection. They're all set in the same world as the series I'm reading, but they're all standalone and trying different things with the world. The Heroes is entirely set within one three day battle with characters from the previous novels on both sides that we care about. Best Served Cold is a traditional revenge thriller, but grimdark as fuck; and Red Country is a Fantasy Western. I'm super keen to read them too, as I've heard these three are a massive step up from the trilogy I'm reading, which is awesome since the trilogy is already awesome.

Finally, have some songs I've been enjoying:

I've noticed this list of songs starts somewhat happy and gets more depressing. That's not on purpose.

happy birthday dude!  You are young as fuck! Don't worry about accomplishing anything yet, that comes later!

I'm writing a fantasy western.  Such a cool genre.

I might pick up Inside. I'm playing Darkest Dungeon, Dragon Age I, and GTA V now.  Started GTA last night.  ENjoying it so far. Darkest Dungeon is pretty cool too.

Huh. I'm writing one too actually. Been planning for a while, but actually started writing it.

Darkest Dungeon is indeed excellent. As is GTA V! You've got some great gaming there man, enjoy!

Happy birthday ya young whippersnapper. Enjoy being less than a quarter century old while you can. Soon you will be 30 and the time between 30 and 40 will go by in what seems like the same time it took to get from 25 to 30. Then 40 to 50 will seem like half that time again until New Year's Eve feels like it comes once every couple of months.

I was intrigued by Inside but I've got waaaay too much unplayed at the moment.

But it's only 3 hours long!

And yeah... I'm not looking forward to hitting late 20's, let alone early 30's. That's when shit's real and if you're life ain't sorted people really look at you weird.

Don't sweat it. I worked a crappy retail clothing job until I was 31. Lived for the weekend and the party. Then thankfully my IT career took off. Still lived for the weekend and the party, y'know, as ya do. Growing old is a fact of life. Growing up is optional.

Happy bidet!

At 24 I worked a maintenance job, did primal therapy, and ended up in an ambulance tied to a bed, for my "safety", for two hours on the way home from NY to PA. I thought, this was an interesting end to my first attempt at living in the real world after college.

Happy Birthday! At least you got some lovely gifts. I own Scott Pilgrim on BluRay and it is one of my favorite films. Own the mangas and that retro style beatemup on PS3.

My birthday is this month too. My brother went to Anime Exp last week and got me some manga, One-Punch Man and Fruits Basket. Fruits Basket is sort of like Twilight, but instead of vampires, boys turn into animals from the Chinese zodiac whey they get hugged. Quite odd and peculiar, not sure why my bro got me that as a gift, but it's definitely odd enough to interest me.  It's quite a large omnibus too. I guess he knows me. He got me a PS4 last year and I didn't even ask for one.

One of my worst birthdays when I went to Vegas with some friends and we checked into a hotel far off the main strip and there was a punk music festival going on in a parking lot near by. Well, the shitty hotel we were staying at was filled with spiky haired, tattooed drunk punks everywhere, passed out all over the hallways making all kinds of noise all night. It was pretty frightening. I didn't sleep at all that trip. It was memorable though.  I kept checking out the window to make sure our ride wasnt stolen lol. I saw a UFC fight that weekend and it was quite busy. It was all a blur really. Quite a disaster though. We went off road from the freeway through dirt roads on the way back to Los Angeles and got lost. It was mid summer, so a freak thunderstorm hit us and flooded the dirt roads. Quite the adventure.
