Dragon Quest And I.....

have a quite short relationship. I mean short. I mean I have barely played any of the games that a lot of people have a lot of love and attachment to. Back when I was a youngling, I had what we call an allowance. Twenty bucks to be excat and while that bought me enough games to keep me entertained I stayed in a more familar line of games that I knew I liked and only took risk on rare occasions. Dragon Quest was not one of them and that wasnt because I instantly disliked it. When I was young I didnt seek out games like I do now as an adult. If I did, I might have learned about it and for sure given it a fair chance. However me and Dragon Quest didnt cross paths till I played Dragon Quest 9:Sentinels of the Starry Sky and that really made me wonder how I missed out on rpg series this good. I also had thought I had played another one of the series at one point but I was wrong, I was thinking of Grandia 2 actually. After seeing some trailers for the new remake for Dragon Quest 7 Im pretty excited to get to play it and DQ8 when it releases as well on 3DS.  However Im thinking of playing some of the older titles that I can get on DS so this is where you come in. If there is a Dragon Quest title that you think I should play by all means suggest it. It has to be on a gaming platform I have access to so keep that in mind as well. I know there are several on DS which I can play on my 3DS. Feel free to share any stories you have on the series and why you enjoy them.

Im also excited for the Builders game on PS4. I have got to get another PS4 before October!

I'm excited for VII and Builders too. I got introduced to DQ with VIII and wondered how I'd missed this series. I don't want to play VIII on the 3DS though. It's so made for the big screen.

Im getting both on the 3ds since that will be the most updated verison. I havent played either so it shouldnt bother me terriably for them to be on the 3ds screen.

Builders has me definitly pumped, Im so glad their bringing it here

I am SO excited for 7 and 8 to come out for 3DS.  VIII was probably one of the best JRPG's I have EVER played, with everything about it being good. It's the best one (for now) so it's sort of the pinnacle.

Actually, you know, when I was a kid, I had the first one ever, called Dragon Warrior in the states (copyright issues) and I still remember playing it, but I never got far.

Dragon Quest IX is cool, but it's very different than the others as the story isn't as in depth.  I like it, just don't love it.

4,5,6 are ALL good.  Sure, they have their quirks, but they are still good.  I would recommend 4 or 5 and if you like those try 6 though.

There's just nothing like a Dragon Quest game, and I've had so much fun with them.  I hope you can find one you like.

Im pretty excited for 7, the trailers ive seen so far have really caught my attention. I kind of wonder if we wont get 8 till December or next year. Ive seen 4-6 for sell pretty cheap on Gamestop and Amazon. I think if I have some spare cash Ill pick them up in order and playthrough them.

MY favorite Dragon Quest game is on the DS!  It's called Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime.  I highly recommend it.

Dragon Quest VIII was my first and still by far the best Dragon Quest game I've played.  I wish they were doing an HD remaster for the Vita or PS4 instead of the 3DS, but I guess I'll take what I can get.  Excited to play VII though, because I never played it and it's the only one besides X which never released here that I haven't played.

If you have an iPhone or an Android phone you can get I-VI on them, but I'd recommend getting IV-VI on the DS.  If you get I-III make sure you play those in order, because the stories do have some similarities and actually kind of go together if you really pay attention.  Here's a list of my favorites...

VIII, IX (might not have had a story, but Level-5 makes addicting level grinding games), V, IV, I, II, III, VI.  I enjoyed them all, but VI was the only one I was excited to finish.  Technically it has a lot of gameplay to it because you can change your character classes and it really opens up a lot, but there's a world switching aspect that I didn't really like.  Still a fun game, just my least favorite for sure.

I know someone recommended Rocket Slime, I never finished it but it was a really fun game.  If you have a PS4 I highly recommend Dragon Quest Heroes, I enjoyed that game more than I ever thought I would.

I'm gonna buy the DS titles. I rather play them on 3DS than my phone. I'm excited play through both 7&8. I'm pre-ordering 7 soon. I played dragon quest heroes a little bit and it's something I definitely want to play more of once I have a new PS4.

My history with Dragon Quest is only slightly less short than my history with Zelda, and for that matter is only slightly shorter than my existence in this world. :) I started with the NES original, played a bit of the next couple of games, then Dragon Quest disappeared until Dragon Quest Monsters came out on GBC. The next time I actually played a DQ game was in 2000, with DQ I + II on Game Boy Color.

DQVIII and DQV are true masterpieces, but the rest of the series is great as well.

One of my favorite games of last year was Dragon Quest Heroes, which was made by Omega Force, the people who do the (fill in the blank) Warriors games. It has the same defeat hordes of enemies at the same time, but it plays a lot more like a RPG than these games usually do.

I love the Warriors titles! I played a little of Dragon Quest Heroes but until I get another PS4 I'm SOL. A lot of people have said 8 is a great game. I'm definitely gonna have to grab that one when it releases on 3DS!

I love Dragon Quest!!! My first exposure to it was with VII on the PS1. It is a very, very, very long game. It was several discs, and I ended up having to get the strategy guide to figure out one of the dungeons. DQ VIII is probably my favorite, and it does need to be played on a big screen to be properly appreciated - full orchestral soundtrack, beautiful cel-shaded graphics, the works. I have I, II, and III for the NES, only one I've played of those three is I, and it was freaking hard! IV-VI are fun, and I really liked IX. It was a Valentine's Day present from my sweetie, and he pre-ordered it so that I got the plush slime.

Aaaawwww how sweet! I played 9 by chance but I definitely enjoyed it! I'll be playing 8 on 3ds but that's pretty much the only way I can play it. It will be okay though, I'll probably still enjoy it. I'm for sure excited for 7.
