Good morning Pixlpeeps! I am currently watching the Live Stream of the Star Wars Celebration from Europe so at times this latest entry might feel a little more broken up than usual. I see Brienne of Tarth is doing the hosting. Someone needs to ask her what she thinks of this past season of Game of Thrones…and maybe her thoughts about the next Star Wars flick. Anyways let’s get started because there is a calm point in the presentation.

Chris Rants About Pokemon Go

At first I wanted to play this, and after a couple of days I realized it wasn’t for me. I wished all the folks luck on finding their little critters but now it seems that the people who play it constantly talk about it. This is the new Crossfit/Vape. You know those folks who ALWAYS talk about those things? Well they’re doing it now for Pokemon Go. Yeah we get it, you play, congrats, but I don’t need constant image uploads of the animals you caught, the constant posting of memes about playing, liking and sharing every single article about the game, and the updates of “Out at the so and so catching more Pokemon.” Enough already. You play, good. Get your exercise but guess what, folks who don’t play don’t give a damn, and why do you think cluttering up social media timelines will change this? Once or twice a day, I’m okay with, but constantly posting about it is past annoying. Remember when the big joke was “How do you know if someone does Crossfit? Don’t worry they’ll tell you” well now it moved to Pokemon Go. Calm the F down. Play your game, enjoy your game, but I don’t want to read a ton of posts about it. My new game has been blocking every post on social media about it.

Chris Listens To…

I haven’t talked about this in a while but the audiobooks feature on iOS is broken. Instead of playing tracks by track number, it goes by alphabetical order so everything is switched. You know it’s bad when you have to attach “Disc X” before the track name. I’m not happy about this, and I’d rather keep them as regular audio files instead of audiobook.

Last week my unlistened to list was at 10,700 and this week I am at

Hahaha I went up 11 tracks but I haven’t synced my iPod Touch and I think I downloaded a couple of mixtapes.

Pickups

I’m currently debating picking up the Bioshock Trilogy for $10. I own the games already but it would be nice to have them all in one place instead of spread over a couple of consoles. We will see.

Music

I hit three thrift stores and the first one had nothing, but the next two had stuff I liked. The first store I found for $1.99 each

Masters of the Universe Limited Edition Soundtrack is still sealed. I saw how much what folks are trying to sell theirs on Amazon and my copy will stay sealed. I have a new audiobook that the iPhone plays out of order (oh the irony)

I also picked up four records for $1 each

A new comedy album to listen to

I thought this was an interesting because it is a collection of TV intros.

More comedy and an album I can add to my musicals collection.

I’m a sucker for these historical albums. This one is a collection of JFK’s speeches.

The final thrift store sold CDs at 2 for $1 which is fan-freaking-tastic and I will spend one day next week just going through their stack of crap and stocking up. In the meantime this is what I found

A couple of soundtracks that have a couple of songs I don’t have in my library

Another soundtrack and who doesn’t want a live 19 minute version of In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida?

A Will Smith album and a Richie Valens album that seems to have more content than the previous one I bought.

And finally another soundtrack

Lego

Ok so the first thrift store wasn’t a total bust.

$25 was a little steep but I could see a couple of figures that could make the pickup worth it. It came it with two instruction guides, one of them I really wanted and the other was a plus

The Toy Story set was the one I wanted. I was hoping that the bags were full of Lego and not the crap off brands you see in stores

This not only has the parts for both sets (maybe missing a couple of pieces) there was also parts for I believe three or four Lego racers (Lego’s version of build your own Hot Wheels)

I have all the figures for both sets as well as a series 1 Han Solo, what looks like a clone trooper, and a random figure next to the horse. Woody is missing his legs but I can replace that through eBay or Bricklink.

As a bonus I found these items in the bag

A DS case and adaptor

I don’t know if you can see it but it is for Guitar Hero, and I have the game with funky controller so I completed the set.

Alright Pixlpeeps I am off. I am meeting up with friends and I need to get this uploaded. Have a good weekend!

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

For today’s song of the week I decided to go with this one because of the summer vibe. Have a good weekend!

goddamn man if I had that Masters of the Universe CD I would have it framed and put it on my wall.  That is SO cool.  I remember seeing it in the theater as a kid clear as day.

A couple of days ago I got a reminder that I took a picture of the DVD copy of the flick. I also saw that film in the theater as a kid. It was one of those films I begged my folks to take me to.

I know someone on Facebook who is doing a documentary on Masters of the Universe. If he doesn't have it he'd probably kill for that CD.

I'm not sure how it's going but here's Rob's website for it. http://heman.fauxpop.com/

Funny, I was just thinking of Carl Reiner and Mel Brook's 2000 year old man album from the 60s. I used to have it, but I just looked, and it seems I don't. That one you have came out in '73. I want it.

I've gotten into Iron Butterfly recently. I listened to that 19 min In-a-gadda-da-vida track and once was enough. I do like a lot of songs off their first albums, Heavy, and Ball though.

I haven't ripped that album to my iTunes yet. I'm interested to see if it's something I'll like.

Yeah that 19 minute track is one of those I'm good after one listen.
