I Really Don't Like Street Fighter V :¬/

And I'm on the verge of hating it.

I am not good at fighting games as I used to but across the gaming spectrum, I've always found myself being able to grasp an array of different types of fighting games 3D or 2D, the Latter being preferred.

But I'm at my wits end here, it's been months and I declare "I can't play this game".

I can Play BlazBlue, Guilty Gear, KOF and even SF4 almost seamlessly but this game is is down right awkward. I'm not good enough to give precise details as to why I can't grasp this game but I'd say this game forces you to wait between certain attacks and only allows you to activate combos it's way and not yours. Like your locked into moves with little recovery or mix ups. But the sad thing is that changes when V Trigger is activated, moves feel less "forced".

I've played Ultra Street Fighter 4 backed to back with SFV just for a comparison and besides the speed (which I prefer) USF4 feels fluid and less restrictive attack frames are less strict on moves and recovering from unsafe moves are both faster and is less likely to lock you in frames leaving you defenceless. SFV feels awkward slow and a chore for me, my Favourite character is Ken but he feels alien to me here, his run is useless (when before the update made for great mix-ups) because there's only 2 occasions it's safe (reversals and before opponents land), he's actually slower than I'm used to as well and his kick attacks are too easily avoidable (either they don't reach or his hurricane kicks are too easy to stop before a lift off the ground).

I really don't want to rant but I haven't been this annoyed at a game in a while now. And I don't like it, this is Street Fighter for goodness sake Frown

What about the rest of you, are your experiences with this game the polar-opposite or do you more or less get my problem here?

I haven't played it since launch month, but I agree. The game feels too slow, with a lot of animations that seem overwrought and take too long to spin off. So far I'm not super digging the roster, either.

I'm fin on the Roster, getting some of the SF3 characters is cool too.

It seems like the brand is seriously tarnished.  I hate the graphics, honestly. Looks like a claymation nightmare. I remember when Street Fighter 2 was THE game.  Capcom is just.. not what it used to be.

My Oolder Brother gives me the same story, for me, Tekken 3. But then you'll always remember your Favourite Arcade game Smile

Funny you mention this now, as I was thinking the same thing about SF5. I got back into fighters with Guilty Gear Revelator, which is very fast paced and deep enought to keep me interested for a long time. I've only really learned like 2 characters moveset and it took me a while to do that. Point being, its full of animations, yet it is super fast and fluid, actually maybe too fast. I took out my Dreamcast and started play SNK v Street Fighter again. I really loved and sill love that game for merging my two favorite games. You should check out the new King of Fighters demo on PS4, as it seems to have simple combat moves but I feel it moves much faster than even SF5. The mortal kombat games still feel abit slow for me too. Guilty Gear all the way though!!!!

I thhink I still have CapvSNK2 on the Cube, man that game was something else.

I find GG more mystyle to BB, funny though, technically setups in BB games are similar in execution to SFV yet I have a better handle on that gam.

I need to get back into GG, I didn't get my Soundtrack and game signed for Nothing!

sf5 is ass, is my unvarnished opinion. Doesn't feel good, only looks good in some instances. Sluggish, boring, banal. I didn't care for any of the iterations of SF4 either though. That game also felt slow and floaty, compared to Alpha series or Third Strike.

as SF4 went on making the combos, cancels and frames more liberal improved a lot of that game from the original inception.

The only time SFV feels good is in V-Trigger, but at the moment yeah, sluggish is right.

I hadn't played it yet.  I'm waiting for the Super SFV Ultimate version that I know is coming. I hadn't really enjoyed Street Fighter since SF3.
