All though basic and to the point, this is an awesome strategy game with a star trek flare.

Star Trek Conquest is set in the Star Trek universe. The game features bth turn based strategy and real time strategy gameplay. It was developed by Scottish studio 4J Studios, which previously developed Star Trek: Encounters, and was published by Bethesda Softworks for the Playstation 2 and the Wii.

The game is set in the Star Trek:the next generation era, with players able to choose six races,Federation,Klingon,Romulan,Breen,Cardassian and Dominion. These races are the main combatants of the Dominion War featured in Deep Space Nine. Star Trek Conquest is played in turns. Each turn allows the player to purchase facilities or ships, construct special weapons or commission an Admiral. Fleets can move between freindly and attack enemy systems as well, But if players engage in combat, they must resolve it immediatly. The goal is to conquer the galaxy by eliminating all enemies by taking there home world. If players lose their homeworld, they will no longer be able to commission Admirals or construct special weapons. There is also a skirmish mode two players go head to head in a hot seat match play.

Players begin the campaign mode with an 1 Admiral and each Admiral comes with a cruiser and can have up to seven ships, and when you pick your admirals one free and the other two cost and you can only assign oed special bonus to each of your three generals one can be attack one can be defense and then one can be movement, each battle gains experience. Once enough experience is gained the Admiral will rise in promotion and earn improved abilities, each Admiral starts at rank one and can move up to rank five. However,if he or she is defeated all experience will be lost.

So as you can see as basic as it is theres alot of strategy involved and as you conquering systems they are taking or trying to take your to, The graphics are basic but look good after all its ps2 graphics, but they are bright and serve the space theme well, the sound and voice acting is very basic but for what it does it does well, theres just not alot to it, now the gameplay and replay value is very very good, this is very addicting and will keep you coming back and back and back, lol, but this is a very fun and addicting game and one I would recommend highly.

Even though I'm more Star Wars than Star Trek,I did really like the shows. Both the original and even more so TNG. The ships are incredible. I can't wait for the new film to come out. Mainly because of the action sequences with the Enterprise down near ground level. Will definitely be looking for this one.
