Fuck it though, I like doing these, even if it's only for myself and like one other person. I know I have somewhat eccentric tastes and they won't appeal to everyone so that's somewhat okay.

I've been moving away from metal a bit lately. It just hasn't been doing it for me as much as usual honestly. maybe I'm getting old... or maybe there just hasn't been that much solid metal coming out. There has been one metal album I'm seriously digging though, and that's the new Witherscape album:

Good god I love Dan Swano, and that means I seriously this Witherscape. With this project he makes metal music with melodic hooks and a tendency towards a mix of growls arena rock/soundgarden clean vocals. It's a glorious prog miasma of awesome.

But that's about all of the metal. I got into this indie rock band called Car Seat Headrest that I get serious pixies vibes from at times:

It's a seriously fun album about a kid who's life is just falling apart. The lyrics are depressing as fuck, but jesus Christ the music so much fun!

Oh yeah, I'm still obsessed with Aesop Rock's new album, which is still probably my album of the year. There's a music video to Kirby, now, which is a song about his cat that I find utterly hypnotic, so it's as good as anytime to give it another shout out:

I've still been listening to the new Radiohead album, which is also amazing, but I'm running out of songs on youtube to share. I've still been listening to milo. who is steadily becoming one of my favourites in hip hop with his references to german philosophers and Diablo 3. And I've been weirdly absorbed in Synthwave, which if you don't know what that is, think the soundtrack of Hotline Miami. It's 80's as fuck and its beautiful.

That's about it. If you have anything you want to share, post it in the comments. I'm always looking for new music.

I would read these, but in my opinion music died when Michael Jackson turned white.

Your opinion is wrong.

I can't listen to hip hop anymore. I don't know why. Sometimes I feel like listening to old school stuff but I rarely do.  Don't know why. Used to love it. I've checked out Aesop Rock before.  You ever listen to Cannibal Ox?

Yeah I like Cannibal Ox, though I felt like their new album was a bit of a letdown. I don't like a lot of modern hip hop, though I'd suggest checking out milo and seeing if that does anything for you since he's really quite different and often closer to spoken word:

my brother played Macklemore for me the other day. I had never heard of him really before. It was a good video, but the music was terrible. That's how I feel about a lot of stuff.  Maybe I'm just getting old and cranky.

Although, there will always be a part of me that craves a subwoofer in my car.

I do read and listen to your music posts, but don't always comment. With metal I usually move in and out of it. I've been mostly listening to americana/folk/bluegrass music because it relaxes me. Other than that I've been listening to xenogears sound track because its stuck in my head, as well as the guilty gears ost because it got stuck in my head too. My favorite hip hop artist is DJ Shadow, although he mostly remixes tracks and they are slow and melodic and cool and thats what I like.

Damn, DJ Shadow is awesome. Will have to look more into him.

I like the Guilty Gear music far mor than the games themselves. They're awesome!

That Xenoblade music was amazing until the vocals started. Was still fun but wasn't expecting it. Those lyrics are pretty cringey. Reminds me of old Linkin Park

DJ Shadow has been around for a long time. Very old school hip hop, rhyme drops over slow beats. Very chill.

I liked the latest Guilty Gear game. It felt like very Souls-like in terms of combat depth, compared to most fighting games which feel simpler.

I like the Mass Effect-like parts of the sound track in xeno. The vocals are very anime. The party member also shout out very cringy things as they battle. Anime. It is what it is.

I too appreciate these blogs about music. Always great to hear about new stuff, since there's just SO much out there today. I mean, it's impossible to find everything that's good.

I've recently gotten into The Dear Hunter, which isn't metal in the slightest, but the compositions done by Casey Crescenzo are really impressive. Also, their stuff is all over the board (see below for some samples). I don't even know that they conform to some sort of genre, but goddamn, do I dig them.

First song I immediately thought of Mr Bungle or Stolen Babies, but after that they did like indie folk, blues, and god knows what else. And interesting listen, and I'll definitely be checking out more.

I listen to the most craziest wide spectrum range of genre's. I have been listening to less metal as well, but like I said, my range of music is as crazy has a triple rainbow in a raging storm.

I have Been listening to

Kerli-Diamond Hard &  Blossom

Ruth B-Lost Boy

Epica-Requiem for the Indifferent

Ingrid Michealson-Hell No

Five Finger Death Punch-Got Your Six

I can't link videos since I'm using my phone.

I always read your music blogs and enjoy them. I may not always comment though. I should post some of what I've picked up lately but too lazy.

I'm listening to 60s prog rock this month, but on Monday I start in on 70s Metal. I've been collecting albums, both CD and vinyl, and ripping them for a playlist all this week in preparation. I wish I could find more Budgie albums. I have one but nothing else.

I'm always down with music blogs because there could be something that I might like and add to the music library. As for what I'm listening to, I'm still going through my library looking for those hidden tracks that I might have missed and need to be on a playlist.
