man, I usually don't watch TV and mostly listen to music while I use the computer or work, but if I was going to watch TV, I would love to watch Star Trek TNG. I grew up with that and I used to love that show so much. I hope the new show is half as good.

Alright I guess I should start on my Quick Hits blog considering I stopped playing games. So how are you good people? I got sidetracked this morning when I was preparing for this entry and then I got caught up in creating another team in NBA 2K16, playing a half with them and realizing that I need to tone down the color of the road uniform (I was calling the color neon aqua) when it should have been a light blue. After that fun I had some lunch and then took a nap because after all this is the start of my weekend but now it’s time to get things done because I want to put my CDs in some kind of order in their genre books (I’ve been putting this off for a bit). Anyways let’s get started with Quick Hits!
Chris Watches…
Meet the Hitler’s – Showtime: I found this documentary by accident yesterday where I watched the second half while it was playing and then I watched the first part on demand. It is an interesting story about the surname Hitler and how many people in the US have that name. It never really occurred to me that there would be a lot of people, but it was interesting to watch their interviews. Also there was a man named Hitler, and the guy who named his son Adolf Hitler. If you get a chance to watch, it is an interesting documentary.
Star Trek: TNG – Netflix: On Thursday morning I woke up extra early and I was off to the dealership to get the oil in the truck changed. I figured I would miss the rush but it was busy and I was told I would be there for an hour and a half.
I didn’t want to use the dealership WiFi and I needed to make a dent in my data plan because I had over four GB rollover that I needed to use. Anyways I streamed one episode and I think it came out to a GB so I am on my way. I’ll probably stream music tomorrow when I go CD shopping. Anyways going back to Star Trek, I am watching around season 3 because I think this is around the time they finally solidified the roster, the uniforms, and the storylines were a mix of fun and the usual dilemmas that seem to always find the good people of the Enterprise.
Sing It On – Pop: While waiting for Big Brother After Dark to start on Pop (I didn’t buy the all access pass this season) I caught this show. I dig acapella, I’m not a hardcore fan but I bought music from some groups, and this show looked interesting. Overall the show was interesting and because of some of the editing you tend to notice folks that would be considered the person hardest to work with, easy going, etc. but I found the majority of them to be annoying. I’ll continue to watch this show if I catch it when it airs.
I also watched my usual slate of shows like Big Brother, MTV’s The Challenge, the season finale of Below Deck Mediterranean, and Raw, while completely skipping over Smackdown (why even watch at this point) and watching Jeopardy later than normal because of the political pep rallies.
Chris Listens To…
So I finished the first disc and part of disc 2 of this audiobook and so far it gives a little background on who Steve Jobs was growing up. I think he’s a total A-hole for how he treated his daughter but that’s something else. It was interesting to see how he turned a hobby into this upstart that is quickly growing. The one drawback I have to this is that iBooks doesn’t play the tracks in order because why follow the track and disc number when you play everything in alphabetical order because that makes sense. It’s currently in regular music form until I get through it and then I will place it back into the audiobook section because I really don’t want to individually name each track Disc X followed by the title. Thanks Steve.
I still have a couple of other audiobooks to rip including this one I bought a couple of years ago that looked interesting but I haven’t been able to because I either keep forgetting or other things come up…like creating new teams in NBA 2K16.
So last week I was at 10,640 unplayed tracks in my iTunes library and this week I am at
I made some progress and I found quite a few new songs that were included in my playlists. I am hoping I keep it up and by the time August is over I should be a lot closer to my goal of listening to everything in my library.
Pickups
Games
So I finally decided to jump on the Humble Bundle 2K bundle, right after they unveil the last hidden games.
In this bundle I received:
The Darkness II, Spec Ops: The Line, Duke Nukem Forever, Civilization V, NBA 2K16, Mafia II Director’s Cut, Battleborn Starter Skin Pack, Freedom Force, Freedom Force vs. The Third Reich, The Bureau: XCom Declassified, Railroad Tycoon 3, Battleborn, Battleborn Platinum Currency, and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel.
I wanted this bundle for Battleborn. Everything else was a bonus. I tried a bit of Borderlands but it turns out playing with a higher framerate gets me dizzy so I will just stick to the PS4 version. I haven’t claimed my NBA 2K code yet because I already have the Michael Jordan edition so I will probably give it away, and the other games are just waiting to be installed.
Alright Pixlbit I am off, have a good weekend!
That’s all for now, more later!
-Chris
For my song of the week I went with one from one of my favorite albums that I found by accident. Back when this album was released I was roaming around Target like I normally do and they used to do a thing on every Tuesday a new release CD would be $10. I saw Sara Bareilles’ Little Voice and said why not. Years later and she’s still one of my favorite musicians. Have a good weekend!
