Good morning Pixlpeeps! August is here and I am excited because the summer is almost over and I am ready for the return of cooler weather. Since this is a new month it’s time to look back at what I did in July
I finished one game, while started only two games in July. It was a slow month in starting new games, but it could be a good thing considering how much I added to Mount Backlog. During the month I’ve been on my usual playlist of having a couple of go-to games while trying a couple that I quickly realized that I wouldn’t play much of or I decided to play them on another platform.
Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY Edition – Steam
I believe I am in my seventh hour and sitting at 50% completed. In the actual story from what I remember from the PS3 version, I am close to the end of the game and then I will most likely go after the Riddler, and other extra stuff. I also think I might give the challenges a try after playing more of a slower attack on the enemy instead of my first playthrough when I went guns blazing without a plan.
Grid Autosport – Steam
Oh I’m still racing and I am almost done with the tuner section, and I think I will probably jump into the endurance stuff instead of leaving it until the end. In that section it seems like it’s mostly racing against the clock instead of other racers. At first it doesn’t sound appealing but after a couple of races it should be fine.
Battleborn – Steam
I started the single campaign mode and at first I thought it was going to be like the tutorial mode but it was a little different. The levels are long with maybe five checkpoints after taking out a couple of waves of enemies while collecting upgrades and other goodies. I’m playing through this enjoying myself, and then it keeps on going. At a couple of times I was hoping this was the last point until the end boss…and it was just another checkpoint and the level keeps on going. Finally I hit the final boss and I thought it would be fun but just like the level, I should have realized that the end boss battle was longer than playing through the actual level.
I get that the game is meant for multiplayer but you would think that the game would adjusted for single player. I don’t complain about the length of games unless they are really short but this one is just so freaking long. I guess it wouldn’t be much of a problem if the game had something to occupy the time instead of buzz through enemies, collect items, and then walk to another stage, rinse repeat. I want to play more of this game because I spent $15 but having to set aside over an hour just to play one level is a bit much.
NBA 2K16 Michael Jordan Edition – Steam
I’m still playing through my second season and I’ve noticed that since I’ve made some wholesale changes to the bench the 3pt production has dropped but my team has become a lot faster, and there is more fast breaks. Since I added three combo SG/SF players I have problems when teams go to a big lineup. Last night against the Heat they went big lineup and my squad went from the hot hand to can’t buy a basket. Eventually I made changes and got the win, but for a bit it was fun to see the computer using an actual gameplan to stop a running squad.
Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel – Steam
This was part of the Humble Bundle I bought where the main game was Battleborn, and I decided to give this version a try even though I’ve been playing this game on the PS4. Having the FPS at unlimited got me dizzy in this game, which is a shock because I don’t get dizzy playing Borderlands. After trying it at a capped 30 fps, I still got dizzy so it was time to uninstall the game from my laptop. Looking back I should have given the key away to my cousin so they could enjoy this game but I wanted to see if Borderlands was more enjoyable on the PC than console.
Two tablet games I’ve been trying
SBK 16 – iPad
This is a motorcycle racing game that the full game can be played without purchasing but you occasionally sit through a commercial. You can buy the actual game for $3.00, which I was thinking about if I enjoyed the game
From what I remember from the previous versions of the series on console it still the same setup where you pick a professional rider to use for the season. There are a lot of control options and I stuck with the default setup of using the gyroscope to steer while tapping the corners for gas and brake
I need to drop the sensitivity down a bit because it feels a bit too loose while steering because I tend to end up on the grass. Anyways there are two heats for pole position and then the race. I finished right before the actual race and having started it up in a couple of days.
Fetty Wap: Nitro Nation Stories – iOS
This is a freemium game that is exactly like the Need For Speed game but a lot slower.
You have a section of a city to race through while being the friend of rapper Fetty Wap. You unlock parts by winning races, take on the big racers from that part of the city, etc. There’s nothing new here, but the end boss somehow becomes a gun fight where you shoot at your enemy which is odd. If you want a freemium racing game, play Need For Speed.
Alright Pixlpeeps I am off, have a good week!
That’s all for now, more later!
