Pixlpeeps, I am currently in day 2 of downloading Batman Arkham Knight (I started last night but then turned off the laptop) and I just finished my cheese Danish and once it’s downloaded I’m going to play some games on Steam. Anyways how are you good folks? Friday is here, I am happy and I might have a CD Friday at the local thrift store that sells CDs 2 for a $1. They have a bunch of Christmas Albums that I would like to add to the library. Anyways let’s get started with Quick Hits

Chris Watches…

Last Chance U – Netflix: At first glance I thought this was going to be the Junior College version of HBO’s Hard Knocks but after watching the first episode it was something much more, and in my opinion more real, more interesting, and captivating. Last Chance U is about this Junior College in a small (700 people) town in Mississippi where the coach has built up a National Champion program and where kids who either have Division 1 talent, or needed a fresh start from D1 schools go to play. The student athletes have numerous problems including the most obvious being the drive to go to class. One of the focal characters in this docu-series is their Instructional Advisor/Compliance Assistant who has to make sure the team is academically eligible. She is shown on the first day roaming the halls making sure the players not only show up to class, but also have pencils and paper. She even goes so far as to help the students review for quizzes and in one case she reads the story to the athletes they were supposed to read.

The athletes have their own stories and you can’t help but root for one young man, but at the same time want to yell at the screen “GO TO F’N CLASS” because many of these kids have the talent to at least get them a great free education while playing a sport. Even if you don’t like sports, this series is a good watch, and at only six episodes I finished it in a Sunday Afternoon. Last Chance U is easily my favorite series of 2016

The Challenge: Rivals 3 – MTV: On Wednesday Night it was the second part of the final followed by the reunion episode. In the previous episode it was revealed that there was going to be a game within the game and that the teammates were going to compete against each other. The Final was split up into sections and each section the first person from their team would receive a point. After the game was over the teammate with the most points could either split the prize money 50/50 or could keep it all for themselves. Well Bananas and Sarah was the most dominant team this season so it was their game to lose. They ended up winning and after watching the first two teams split their money equally, Bananas decided he would pull the ultimate heel move (wrestling term for bad guy) and keep the money for himself. It was brutal to watch but at the same time that’s how his character is. He usually stabs his friends in the back, and what is surprising is that people knows this yet they are still shocked.

USWNT vs. New Zealand Olympics Soccer – NBC Sports: Oh I do love me some USWNT Soccer, and the US started off slow but ultimately won 2-0. I’m not a fan of these uniforms but it is better than the one year they wore gold and I think won silver. Anyways USA! USA! USA!

Chris Listens To…

I have removed a couple of podcasts from my playlist because they have become too political. I get people feel a certain way but when their beliefs start to bleed into the content that is silly or about TV shows I tune out. It’s their right express their beliefs especially on their show, but that’s not what drove me to become a loyal listener, so I hit the unsubscribe button. I listen to podcasts because they’re fun, mostly about sports, and not the troubles of the real world.

To kill off some of my data I’ve started to stream music when I’m out and about. I have a ton of rollover that I really need to use so when I am out, I use apps like TuneIn and stream a radio station from Seattle that plays throwbacks from the 90s. I also use Amazon’s Music App and when I was stuck getting my tires replaced I was streaming Netflix. I made somewhat of a dent but I have another 6 GBs to use. I have however found a couple of songs I need to add to my playlists.

Last week I was at 9944 tracks in my un-listened to playlist, and as of this morning I am currently at

At first glance not much of an improvement but I did add some CDs to my library.

Pickups!

Games

I was on the Bundle Stars website and I found a couple of games that I wanted to add to my library

I finally bought Batman Arkham Knight Premium Edition on PC. It came out to $20 with all the DLC which was $5 less than through Steam’s weekend sale. I have it on PS4 but since I got into a Batman kick last week I figured why not complete the set. I passed on Origins Blackgate because it’s completely different from this trilogy and I passed on the TellTale game I never got into the previous TellTale games.

The next game I bought was these two

I have Ghostbusters The Video Game on disc but I didn’t want to have to keep popping the disc in to play it. Sanctum of Slime also came with the DLC and I think both games came out to $5.

The last set of games I bought from this site is this trilogy for $2. Heck for $2 why not give it a try, right?

I have never played the Sniper series so what better way to start than with these three games. Sniper Ghost Warrior, and Ghost Warrior 2 come with all DLC.

Earlier this morning while browsing r/gamedeals I spotted this game I’ve wanted to try out for a bit and for $4 it was the perfect time

I do love racing games and this game is currently downloading. Once I finish this blog I’m going to do some racin’. Since I bought this game from Indiegala and I spent over $2 I got a free game

I’ve already played through this game on PS3 with my brother and once was enough so it will remain uninstalled unless I really, REALLY need a western game fix.

In terms of physical stuff I bought this game for a $1 at the thrift store that sells CDs 2 for $1.

At first my backloggery said I didn’t own it, but when I got home to check, I did and all of a sudden backloggery agreed. Anyways its complete, and in awesome condition and even has this

Yesterday I decided I needed a dedicated game controller for my laptop, preferably a 360 controller because I’ve been remapping the PS3 controller in my head and at times I got confused. I found this

But there is no way I would spend over $100 on a controller. Sorry X-Box fans but I can’t justify that, no matter how good it feels, or that it can make coffee. Instead I found this one at Walmart for $20

It’s red, it feels fine, I played some Batman Arkham Asylum and NBA 2K16 with it without problems, matches the colors on my laptop, and it has a cord that is a mile long. What more do I want?

Music

From the Thrift Store that sells CDs 2 for $1

I bought Crossroads to complete my Britney collection but I do think she has a new album being released soon (maybe even today), and Heart to get me closer to finishing their discography. The Crossroads Soundtrack is not good.

I have the Destiny’s Child Greatest Hits, so I figured it was time to start picking up their studio releases. The Now CD is for singles I want in my library that I didn’t already have. I have most of the songs on this CD already except for a couple of tracks and for .50 why not?

I believe this is Christina Aguilera’s second album and it has Spanish versions of a couple of her songs from her first album. The Spanish version of Come On Over is pretty good, and I found out about it because it was the B-Side on Come On Over CD Single. I added another Celine Dion CD, and I think I am somewhat close to finishing her discography.

I am 90% sure I own a Renee Olstead CD because I dig her voice so I bought this CD, and it has become my favorite CD in the last couple of months. It’s like a CD that Michael Buble would release of standards but in a really good female voice. It made my full albums Playlist. Won-G I remember he had a single when I was in high school but for some reason I can’t remember the name. Anyways this album isn’t bad, the first five songs I really liked and

The former owner had it signed. This is my I think 3rd autographed CD I’ve found at the thrift stores.

Alright Pixlbit I am off. My game finished downloading and I am ready to get some racing on…or start Batman Arkham City. Have a good weekend!

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

For my song of the week here is my favorite track from the Renee Olstead CD. Awesome song. Have a good weekend!

enjoy BAtman.  I never finished it.  IT has its moments.

Lot of pickups this week.  I like that red controller.

Its a good game, but I wish there was less emphasis on the Batmobile. Yeah I went overboard a bit on the games but they were cheap. The controller works well and I'm thinking about getting a second for Rocket League and other two player games.

yeah they definitely went overboard with that. I think because they were fatigued by the franchise and were trying to add something new.  Unfortunately it's fatiguing in itself.

It would have been fun to mix it up a bit and maybe play as Nightwing, or have a Nightwing game with different skills and gadgets. Stretch out the life of the franchise.

that was what is so cool about City, cause you could play as Catwoman a little and use her gadgets.  They totally should have gone in that direction, like you suggest.

Be on the lookout for bugs in Arkham Knight just in case so you can get a refund quick if it doesn't work right. Heard the PC port was so bad they never got it working right.

They got it working right. After a few months. Half a year maybe. That's why I managed to finish it.

The half a year patch didn't work for me and a lot of other people, I ended up getting a full refund after it because of that.

Thanks for the heads up. At first I heard nothing but bad things but I heard (like Joaquim said) they fixed it. I'm pushing my luck a bit because it could be a coin flip that it works on my machine but I luck with Just Cause 3 running fine, so hopefully that translates to AK working.

I liked Call of Juarez. I didn't finish it's sequel Bound in Blood though and never got to Cartel, the third game in the series. Gunslinger was really fun though. I want to go and play Cartel sometime and maybe try and finish Bound in Blood again.

I've though about that Elite controller. I like the hair trigger option - could save me some possible future tendonitis - but $150 is a bit much for me.

The original was a lot of fun. My brother and I finished it in one sitting. I don't remember if I ever played the other two. Gunslinger I think I have on the 360 as a download game but I didn't get far into the game.
