July 2016 Recap and Mini Life Update

I think this is the latest I've ever posted my monthly recap. Life has been nuts! We bought our first house at the beginning of July (it was a long process getting to that point) and we are expecting our third baby anytime within the next week, so July was a crazy month of moving in and preparing for the new baby. Plus I've had pretty frequent overtime—nice for the money but not for moving in and prepping for baby Surprised But I did manage to get some gaming in, as you shall see...

Games Beaten

-Rocket League (PS4) (PS+)

Rocket League is just plain fun. The physics of the cars feels just right, and though there are extra modes that add some nice variety (hoops???), the main game is nigh infinitely replayable. Soccer with rocket-powered cars is brilliant. The premise is zany enough for anyone to get into but the mechanics are deep enough for high-level play. It's certainly a game I'll be coming back to for quite a while to come. How did I decide I had "beaten" it? I'd played it pretty casually since it came out but I noticed last month that I had gotten most of the trophies through normal play and I decided to go for the rest of them. It's my first Platinum!

Games Bought

July was another slow month on purchases, with Fallout 4 (PS4) being the only physical game we picked up. My wife has been looking forward to this since it came out and started it up right away. I might play it eventually lol. I did take advantage of the PSN sales and bought a couple digital games. Hyperdimension Neptunia ReBirth2 (Vita) was cheap enough for me to finally give this series a try. I also picked up Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart (Vita) because I hear this strategy spin off is actually better than the main series (and it was cheap too). On the "unequivocally good game" front, I also got Suikoden II (PS1 Classic).

PS+ had two games that really interested me. Prince of Persia: Revelations (PSP) is a port of Warrior Within. I'm sure it's compromised in some way but I don't own that game in any form, so it's a welcome addition. Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines (Vita), from what I've heard, is one of the best original games for the Vita and a rather interesting RPG in its own right. The other games were Furi and Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell for the PS4 and Fat Princess and Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood for the PS3.

Now Playing

It's sad how little I played games in July. I didn't touch Mighty No. 9 even though I'm nearly done with it. I didn't touch Virtue's Last Reward even though I'm dying to know what happens. I didn't touch Freedom Wars either. (I actually had to buy a new Vita charger because mine got lost in the move.) I might have played Diablo III once...it's hard to remember. The only games I was consistent with was Destiny (almost done with the year two Triumps) and Twilight Princess Picross. Picross is a great game to play before falling asleep Smile

Hyperdevotion Noir seems interesting. Nice title too.

I wish Nintendo would make a Kirby Picross.  I have all these My Nintendo coins and nothing good to spend them on!

Nintendo could just pump out themes Picross games and I'd be happy lol

I missed out on Rocket League when it was a free PSN game.  Stupid me.

Enjoy Fallout.  That's a big game!

Rocket League is definitely worth paying money for and I heartily recommend it!

The fact that Fallout is such a big game is precisely the reason I'm not starting it right now lol. But my wife is playing it and that makes me happy. As long as somebody plays these games we have Smile
