Running from Evil Horde

From: Doom II

Remixed by: Evil Horde

My last couple OCR entries have been more orchestral (well, last week's was straight piano) so I thought I'd do something a little more rockin' and then decided to go all the way. This remix from Doom II is basically a couple of electric guitars and a drumset. As the name would imply, a constant forward momentum pushes everything along. The song is built on that rhythm and it paints the name nicely. My favorite part is a chorus-ish thing where the guitars wail at each other over the bass line. It's the most melodic part, which is probably why I like it. What I'm not a big fan of is the "epic solo" in the latter part of the remix. It starts out fine but then gets out of control, and perhaps that's the point. Regardless, it's a solid remix with great energy. Ironically enough, it would make great running music.

Liked this one, didn't love it. I actually liked the verses better than the wailing guitar choruses, though. Same melody, but with more of a chug than a drowned in wah sound. I actually liked that solo, though. Felt it did a lot more good with the wah than the chorus did.

So I also like the song, just for almost the exact opposite reasons you do. lol
