welcome to Pixlbit! I really want a Vita but can't afford it yet. I plan on getting one when FFX comes out though, for sure!

I've been meaning to post my first blog here ever since 1UP died and I started an account. I know that I wasn't all that active on 1UP over the past few years, but im hoping things will change here.Lately i've been adding games to my collection, but that has proven to be quite tedious since I have a collection of 1000s.
For those of you who kept up with me on 1UP, not too much has changed with me. As usual i've gotten a ton of new additions to my collection with only 2 big exceptions. The first one is that I got a PS Vita. Now I was going to wait for a price drop but I managed to get a bundle pack with COD Black Ops Declassifeid. Sony was also running a promo which is supposed to give me and a friend $20 for me getting one. However this promo so far has had a few issues with the first friend now even being allowed to sign up despite him owning a Vita since launch. Then there was the registering issues with me and the serial # not working correct. I got around that though. Sony screwed me over with their 3 free games promo they ran with the Go, so im not expecting anything less from them with this. If they do screw me over I might just consider never buying a new Sony product again, and will let my Plus expire. Its been almost 2 months since I registered with the promo, so i'll give it a few more weeks.
Despite some potential issues with the Vita promo, I have to say I love the system. I love the cross buy feature, I love the games, and the features. I do have a few issues though. First off the memory cards are way overpriced. I'd buy a lot more games for it off PSN, but already my 8gb, and 4gb are already filled. I'd get a 32gb, but im not paying the $90-100 they want for one. My second issue is the battery. The battery in the Vita sucks. Its right up there with the PSP, and PSP Go Batteries in suckage. Even with the backlight turned down more then half, the battery easily drains in just a few hours. People complained the 3DS battery was bad, but from my experience this is worse. My final Vita issue is a relativey minor one that it also shares with the PSP. That issue is the speakers. While not bad, I do notice the speakers built into the system sound pretty low quality. Now im now expecting Bose quality out of them. However I feel my DS Lite, DSI, DSI XL, and 3DS all sound better. The sound seems to be lounder and cleaner. Im not sure if anyone else has noticed this about the sound.
My next major addition to my collection is Skylanders. Last Dec I played the first game when my friend got it and instantly fell in love. Although I initially wanted to invest in the 360 versions, I managed to snag the PS3 version and several figures pretty cheap. Since then I have added the first 2 Skylanders games to both my 360 and 3DS as well as Giants on 360, PS3, and 3DS. I am now totally obsessed with this series and have already spent a small fortune on the games and figures. I'd take some pics of the collection so far, but im awaiting 4 new figures to come via Fed Ex tomorrow. If anyone is on the fence about this series or thinks its just for kids, then I strongly advise you to play it for yourself. Although the series might be aimed at kids, its just too damn fun for adults not to play. Im 36 years old and not the slightest bit ashamed of my addiction of it. Just be cautioned, it can get expensive. When I first got it I only inteneded on getting one figure per element. Now I have to have them all. I don't even care about having multiples since I enjoy taking the characters down different paths.
Finally if you own a 3DS I should mention that those versions are completely different from the console versions. They share only a common theme and characters and nothing more. And if you own both PS3, and 360 and can't decide which to get, then I say go for the 360 version. Even though i've never played the series on the Wii, its fairly obvious the game was designed with that system in mind. This means that you shouldn't expect to be blown away graphics in the game. With that being said, the PS3 version tends to have a very low resolution look to it which seems to be common in a lot of Wii games i've played. While this is the case with both versions, Giants seems to get hit worse with the problem. There's also a little more loading in the PS3 version, but that is a fairly minor issue. Other then that the only difference betweeen the 2 versions was in Giants. In the Kaos Castle level there was a section where you had to push a few platforms to jump on them. I noticed there were less platforms on the PS3 to push. Other then that, thats it.
Well thats it for now. Im gonna try to blog here more often then I did on 1UP. Hopefully I won't grow tired of it or get too lazy.
