What Game mechanic do you want to see in more games?

For me, it's Metroid Prime's scan mechanic. In that game, it really helps you feel like you're exploring a living breathing world. I love the amount of detail they pour into everything, especially in Metroid Prime 2. Seeing the connections between flora and fauna not only help them feel like more than mere obstacles, but they allow you to even prepare for what you might be facing ahead.

Is the scan mechanic like Batman's Detective Mode in the Arkham games? If it is I agree especially from the first game. Having the ability to see a whole new universe adds to the game.

I also like how on the Vita version of Uncharted you use the back touch pad to clean dirt off of items. Having the touch pad section on the PS4 controller, more games could have this be part of the game.

I wish the Telltale games would add this type of mechanic instead of the horrible action sequences that I hate. I don't like combat in Telltale games.

I know the tech isn't there yet, but I want to see more autonomous or semi-autonomous worlds.  I like how in Fallout 4, you have your traders out there doing shit, and you have raiders coming in, and shit happening.  IT's pretty rudimentary compared to what it will be, but I just want worlds that kind of live, instead of just pretend to live.

I recall Halo 4's equipment mod that let you see the enemies, kind of like having infrared mode. Not exactly scanning though.

I want to see the minion controls as used in Pikmin and Overlord. I always like the magic ability in RPGS that lets you summon skeletons or other helpers but usually they are not in your control once you summon them. In Pikmin and Overlord you can highlight the whole group and sweep them over enemies or have them pick up items and bring them places. I really can't think of another game that uses that.

The 'health regen' in bloodborne for action games. I was a bit skeptical about it at first, but then I realized that the combat in that game is more fast paced than usual DS games and taking a time out to heal takes you out of the action. Playing through the Nioh demo, which is more face paced and closer to Ninja Gaiden than DS, it has a mechanic that lets you regen your stamina by tapping R1. Not sure how this plays out through the rest of the game but it doesn't feel intuitive to have to push an extra side button to win back some stamina. BB was more elegant. You could win back damage taken by being agressive and had more to do with countering and timing. But yeah, regen systems are good. Auto Health regen changed FPS, maybe for the worst, but I feel this system in action games can change action games. Fuck health potions. Also, in Witcher 3 would work better because you wont have to rest at a bonfire to refill potions, just win back health through combat.

Real maps. Like pulling out a map from your pocket ingame. I was playing FarCry2 and one of the things I enjoyed was pulling a map out of my pocket and just studying where I had to go, then putting it away and just exploring on my own, like in Firewatch. A simple mechanic like this makes it more immersive. So real maps!

I think I've mentioned it in a blog of yours before, but the Ratchet and Clank upgrade system. Upgrading weapons just by using them is so addicting and fun.
