My 119 GB N3DS

In my continuing mission to add more storage space to everything I bought a 128 GB microSD card yesterday (119 GB formatted) because my 32 GB was coming to the end of it's lollipop.

A lot of people don't know that they can put a 128 in a N3DS because all the sites say 32 GB is the maximum. But they lie!

All you have to do is format the larger ones as FAT32 and you're off to the races.

Transferring data is as simple as copying the folders to your PC hard drive then copying them back to the new microSD and you're done.

The most annoying part of the process is taking the back off the N3DS because Nintendo saw fit to hide the slot away inside the thing.

Took advantage of some of the My Nintendo discounts because I have a couple of thousand coins.

Now to see if I can fill up this card. :)

goddamn dude that a fat fucking card of storage!  Those Nintendo games are mostly small too!

I'd like to replace my card, but I have to admit the fact that it's hidden away kind of puts me off.  It just seems annoying.  I should do it though, I mostly prefer digital games on handhelds these days, so I always have them around and don't lose them.

I have 22 full 3DS games on the card and a lot of them are 1 GB or bigger. Bravely Default on it's own takes over 3 GB. Devil Survivor 2 and MH 4 come close too.  Altogether I have 81 games on the device right now so 32 GB goes pretty quickly.

Im gonna do that, seeing as I might buy some of the new rpgs digital. I will need all the storage space I can muster. How do you format it to a Fat32 by the way?

minitool partition wizard will do it. Or any number of other free formatters. I can step you through it if you like.

When you get one, make sure the card comes with either a standard SD card shell (if your PC has a card reader) or a USB device that you can plug it into. The one I got is shown below.

1. You can use that USB device to backup the contents of your existing card to the PC.

2.  then put the new card in, format it with minitool partition wizard as FAT32 and then

3. copy the folders you backed up in step 1 to the new card.

Neat. My 3DS has been in storage for a bit, but I should be getting back to it when Dragon Quest VII arrives next week.

Hot damn that is a lot of space for the 3DS, and something I want to try. Of course it would be overkill considering I still have a ton of space on my 16GB card. Thanks for the info and when I run into a 128 GB SD card on sale I'm going to try this.
