My childhood has really taken a beating this week. First the whole 80's music/Glee thing and now this. Disney is shutting down Lucas Arts. How many times as a child did I see that logo pop up and get just as excited as I did for the films? Too many to count. Truly a sad day. One day I'm singing Disney's praises and the next...rrrrrrraughhhherrrrfff! I was not one of those who freaked when Disney bought out George Lucas and his empire of Star Wars goodness. In fact I was kinda thrilled by it. New promise for a new possible return to greatness. But this really blows. And they cancelled Star Wars 1313 as well. My only hope is they plan on replacing it with something even better. But that is a tall order,my friends. How do you feel about all this today?

What I'm listening to today..............

Disney is making me angry up in here.....RRRRRAAAAWWRRRRR!!!!!!!!

Lucas arts put out some great games! StarWars BattleGround 2 and Jedi Academy were the sizzle! THeir collaboration with Bioware also brough us the spectacular KOTOR games. I even liked Force Unleashed though I've read the sequel wasn't quite as good.

I liked those Unleashed games. And KOTOR was a landmark RPG for me. I remember all the great PS1 games they made, too.

I agree with everything in the blog (well, except I don't know what the 80s music/Glee thing is).  This makes me sad.  I used to buy practically everything with the Lucasarts logo-literally every single one of their old adventure games, in addition to X-Wing, Tie Fighter, Afterlife, Rogue Squadron, Shadows of the Empire, Dark Forces, etc.  Their output hasn't been nearly as high quality lately, but I was still looking forward to SW 1313.

They had a lot of potential for the future. Especially if Disney got behind them with good content. The whole Glee thing refers to the use by them{and Rock Of Ages] of songs that were near and dear to me. I understand nostalgia, but that is not their intent. I think they are just lazy and can't come up with their own songs!

But there was a sequel.  It was called Ghoul Patrol.

You may be right. Can't say I could argue much in their favor today. They better have a plan for making some good games.

I feel for the multitudes of people that got laid off. I actually first heard the news on sxephil's channel on Youtube yesterday, which seems like an odd place to find out. Well, I guess he does talk about video games.

I think "Roundabout" was such a go to for me when I DJ'd I got a bit tired of it, but it is a good song. Actually, I find it best on cloudy/rainy days.

I dig old punk rock shows; so much energy.

I watch his podcast every day. That guy is awesome. He talks about everything and he's funny as hell. I hope those folks who were laid off find some good jobs. The talent is definitely there.

My favorite LucasArts game was Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders.

I'm gonna look that one up. They made all sorts of interesting games that were not Star Wars titles.
