1912 vs. 2013

The 1912 featured in Bioshock Infinite is not too far off from the society that was prevalent in the U.S. at the same time. A quick read of the history books or Wikipedia can confirm it and I hope many people who are playing this amazing game will take some time to read about pre-WW1 America. An age of progress, an age where Evangelical religion was dominant and a time where people who weren't WASPs were at a disadvantage in some cases.

Bioshock Infinite is so good that it's very difficult to play something else like Sly Cooper: Thieves In Time or even Tomb Raider afterwards. It's as good, maybe even better, than the original BioShock. The story alone has so much pull and interest that you can't wait to see what happens next.

The character of Elizabeth Comstock is one of the deepest and most interesting characters created in some time. She looks like something from a Disney film but her story, when it's all said and done, certainly will be an indictment or a poignant reminder of what kind of mindsets were in the heads of her handlers.

I really can't see GTA V or The Last Of Us being as good as Bioshock Infinite. Maybe Watch Dogs if it releases. Bioshock Infinite is that good a game. Very hard to put down.

I sometimes wonder if the world of 1912 might be just as bad as the current U.S. of 2013, where decadence and ignorance is taking over.in place of intolerance and bigotry? I somehow think the last great decade in America was the 1970's. Maybe into the 1980's. I certainly have no love for our ignorant, celebrity worshiping, reality television loving society we have nowadays. I'll take disco and morning game shows over anything in 2013.

I want to play this bad! Just wish I had more time and more money. lol. Bioshock as a series has always been great at holding up a distorted fun house mirror of our own cultural flaws. I'm glad Infinite continues that tradition nicely.

Yes, you're missing out on something special. In my case, good thing the PS3 has gamesharing to help out those who want to buy the latest games but can't afford the $68 to pay for it.

BioShock games aren't my cup of tea, but I will admit they have a heck of an atmosphere.  The setting in this one is pretty interesting, too.  One of my favorite newspaper comics was in its heydey during this time (Little Nemo).

You're absolutely correct in saying that it really represented 1912 very well in-game. However, one thing I noticed that slightly threw it off for me was Women Officers. I may be wrong, but I don't believe there were female police officers in 1912. Other than that though, this game is great.

I just wish I could play it more. My Wife has been hammering away at it while I watch from a distance at nights ha ha
