Until Halloween

Every year in October I intend to play a scary game in honor of halloween but I rarely get around to actually following through. Not so this year! Friday night I started playing Until Dawn, the PS4-exclusive interactive horror game...thingy. I'm not sure how best to describe it. It's kind of like what FMV should have become (it's not FMV, though, of course). I know! Here's a trailer:

I finished it in two nights. It's an easy game to just keep going and going and going and suddenly four hours have gone by. I'm not done with the game yet—I want to go back and get the collectables and the best ending where everyone lives (I lost two people by the end in mine)—but I did finish a whole playthrough before halloween, which is much better than most years. And it was a really good game! I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys scary stuff or good stories.

Until Dawn is fucking awesome. Glad you enjoyed it. I need to get around to finishing it though since I lent it to a friend and haven't got it back yet.

So you never actually finished the story? The final scene is sooooo tense O_O

I played all the way from start to finish last night for a Nerds Without Pants Twitch stream! It was as great as it was the first time, and I think it scared me a little more since my girlfriend wasn't with me.

My wife was watching me play but even so it was still pretty scary, and we had to watch Parks & Rec afterwards so that she'd be able to go to sleep lol. Playing the whole thing in one sitting would be pretty awesome but man, that's a lot of gaming in one night.

Yeah, my girlfriend watched the whole game with me the first time over about two weeks. It was a great way to experience it. And it wasn't as bad as I thought. The plan had been to play it all night, until dawn. But I started at 7 and was done at 2.

It's a good one! Does he like story-heavy AND horror? It's a pretty great combo here.

This one is one of the few PS4 games i'm really itching to play, especially after watching a full playtrhrough of it and wanting to know what other branches you could create (in the one I saw, only three characters made it out).

It definitely has great replayability!

I was going to play Condemned Criminal Origins again. I even rebought it. But then I played something else instead. I guess the spirit didn't catch hold of me.

I have both the Condemned games! But I was lucky to have time to get through one Halloween game :/ Hoping to play those eventually...

I wanted to play the second game, which I have, but it's still not backwards compatible with XBO. The first one is though.

You know, I might have decided to pick these games up based on one of your blogs. It was somebody here on Pixlbit but I think it might have been you.

I went on about the first one a while back. I really liked it. Totally missed it when it came out too. I only tried it when it was dirt cheap years later. What a great find. I love the first person brawling. Really scary and also a nice challenge.
