The only "serious" racing game series I ever got into was Ridge Racer, but I decided not to try the tablet ones because I don't think they'd play like how I want them to.
Tablet Racing Games

It's amazing how hard it is to find a dry cleaners when you actually need one. I need to get my suit cleaned apparently I can't use my goto spot anymore and now I have to find one, and Australian Siri is no help (I should call her Cortana again). Good morning Pixlpeeps! So this morning I'm still on last week's time so instead of taking advantage of that extra hour of sleep I woke up at 4:57am instead of 5:57am. Blah! So over the weekend I mainly spent time playing on the tablets, specifically racing games. Oh the racing games where if you see someone in public playing one they are using their tablet as a steering wheel on a game that doesn't handle as well as a game using an actual steering wheel, but its neck and neck with the Wii and their Wiimote steering wheel plastic add-on. I mainly played three games and I'd like to talk about them from the worst, to the best. Let's get started!
Race Max – Android
I found this game while searching through the Google Play Store, trying to find something new to try that isn't total crap (Google Play Store is 80% shovelware freemium games.) Even though this game isn't the best (far far from it) it has its moments.
Race Max isn't a freemium game but there are tons of ads, like between races there are commercials. If you dare take this game on, turn off the tablet's WiFi. You'll thank me. Anyways the graphics are not great, think N64/early Playstation graphics, but if you like to grind a bit and drive cars that handle like they are on ice this game is for you.
There are different races set within different tracks, everything from straight up racing to time trials, but racing on grass feels the same as racing on the track so many times I have found myself on the grass during turns without losing ground. The only knock is you don't get the perfect race bonus. Race Max is ok, but there are better games to waste your time on.
Asphalt 7 Heat – Android
When I first got my first gen Nexus 7 many moons ago this was the game I was excited about. I spent I think $2 on it and played the hell out of it. Since then I think the game might be free but now you can buy stars to help to progress in the game, along with daily games to help you unlock faster cars
If you haven't played the series, its kind of like the Burnout Clone for Android. You have your typical straight up race, along with time trials, elimination, and knockout where you try and take out other cars.
I am currently four divisions away from finishing this game and I believe it would be the third Asphalt game I've finished (Asphalt on the DS, and I think I finished the Vita version.) This is easily one of the better racing series on Android and iOS. Solid graphics, controls are good, you're not hit over the head constantly with Buy X car for $X.XX ads.
And now for what I feel is the best racing game on tablets without using money
Gear Club – iOS
Now before I start writing my thoughts about this game you can purchase cars with real money but it is expensive
I've seen a couple of cars go for $15 and $22. I'd rather grind than pay that. Anyways Gear Club is like Real Racing 3 where you participate in races, earn cash, and spend it on buying new cars, and upgrading your current car, but unlike Real Racing, Gear Club doesn't force you to spend that cash on servicing your vehicle. Gear Club is set up in this world where each group of races is designated by letter. Each individual race you can earn up to three stars by finishing in the top three. Bonus cash is given for achievements like no crashing, following the race line, no offroad, etc. Once you complete a group of races and earn all the possible stars you get bonus cash XP, and gold. The gold is the premium currency in the game and that can be used to purchase special items for your garage, suped up cars, and other goodies.
There is also a blimp that flies around every couple of hours that has a special race that pays double with a normal race is and at times they let you borrow a car so you can trade as much paint as you wish
The one section I like is the multiplayer where you race against other people's ghosts
This is probably the only time I will ever hit the top spot because folks in other countries like to cheat so there will be some crazy times at the top.
I like Gear Club because its a game where you don't have any stupid cap on how much of the game you can play, you can customize your car, garage, and have a good time without spending any cash. You can realistically race through each race once, and have enough cash to upgrade to the next level without ever having to repeat races. If the developers charged $2-5 for this game, I would have paid it.
Another game I've started but haven't gotten very far in is
Asphalt Xtreme – iOS
I actually pre-registered for it on Google Play for my Android tablet but my tablet seems to be underpowered because it was choppy so I started over on iOS. So far the game feels like an Asphalt game but has the Nail'd and Baja offroading thrown in. I don't have much to say but I do like it.
Alright Pixlpeeps, I need to find a Dry Cleaner and I need to get a haircut. Have a good week!
That's all for now, more later!
