The Last Remnant
Of all these JRPGs, so far this one is my favorite. Very underrated turn-based RPG as far as I'm concerned. I put countless hours into it, finishing all the side-quests including the super tough optional boss: The Fallen (no seriously, I spent like two weeks on that boss). I highly recommend it if your up for a challenge, and it's pretty cheap on both PC and Xbox 360.
Infinite Undiscovery
This was another Xbox 360 JRPG that I played shortly after starting The Last Remnant. It also happened to come out around the same time back in 2008. This was good. I liked the combat a lot, but I can see where reviewers had problems with the games story and small amount of content. I finished it in 20 hours with few optional quests in site, but I still got my moneys worth.
Resonance of Fate
For a turn-based JRPG, the combat in this one is action packed. So much frantic fun, but yet so much strategy goes into these battles. And with the difficulty of this games bosses, you'll need to take full advantage of the strategic combat. Unfortunately, my used copy was scratched up a bit, and likely because of this, the game doesn't let me progress past Chapter 7 of 16. I've tried installing the game and that locks up to. Oh well, if I run out of games to play I might get another cheap copy. Though on the other hand this game was quite difficult and I was having my doubts whether I'd be able to finish it anyway.
I also caved and bought Final Fantasy XV for Xbox One. After having it pre-ordered for 1/3 off the price for six months, Amazon was taking forever to ship it. So I decided to cancel that order and just pick it up already. I'm enjoying it so far but I'm still pretty early in.
Finally, I ordered Magna Carta 2 for Xbox 360 just yesterday. Yet another JRPG and the third multi-disc one at that out of this bunch. Looking forward to playing this when I'm done with FFXV.
Hope everyone has been doing well. It has been a long time since I've been on this site once again, but with the amount of games I've been playing lately, that may not happen again any time soon (no promises).
The Xbox version of Last Remnant is riddled with slowdown (thankfully it's not an action game), has longer loading times and is more punishing than the PC version, but I think a lot of that greatness still shines through. But yeah, the PC version is the way to go.
Yes, I have played Lost Odyssey. I fondly remember putting a lot of hours into that in my first year of college.
I played Blue Dragon but didn't quite finish it. I left the game right before the final boss area. It's good that it's backwards compatible with XBO now. Maybe I'll go finish it.
I have Lost Odyssey around here somewhere. I've been playing handhelds at home, but I could set up my 360 and do some RPGs. That's a very tempting thought.
I'd like to get Diablo III for XBO. I have Dragon Age Inquisiton and Wasteland 2 already sitting on my shelf. Just a matter of time and priorities. I hope Dragon Quest XI comes to the U.S. next year. It'll be out in Japan next Spring, last I heard. Also Etrian Odyssey V.
Shame you didn't like Infinite Undiscovery, but I can see why it has a lot of other problems I forgot about such as almost no apparent direction and limited combat. I still liked it.
Resonance of Fate, as said below is very strange, and I can see a lot of people just not getting into it.
I have last remnant installed on my pc, but got final fantasy 15 so i havent gotten around to it. It has somewhat of a rough start from what i played of it.
Ive been super into jrpgs lately after playing trails in the sky, which is simply a wonderful game.
