BaD #5: A Day with Twisty Hollow

The premise of Twisty Hollow revolves around concentric circles that, well, revolve. The inmost ring has people with certain skills, like a fisherman, butcher, chef, or miner; the middle ring has tools, like fishing poles, knifes, or pickaxes; the outer ring has materials for the people to use the tools on. By lining up the rings you can have the butcher turn a cow into a steak or a woodsman turn a tree into lumber, for instance. Sometimes they can be changed again, like the chef turning a steak into a hamburger. People on the outside of the last ring want certain things (lumber, steak, fish, etc.) and you get money for getting it to them before they lose their patience (near as I can tell, the money is simply for your score).
I really liked this game at first. I started playing it on a day off from work and kept coming back to it during the day. The developers did a good job keeping up a steady trickle of new wrinkles to worry about as you went along and things stayed interesting. But in the third "world" they introduce a big grizzly bear that pops up during the levels and eats any food that comes by him. For some reason trying to manage the demands of the people that wanted stuff AND trying to keep the grizzly from stealing the food items was really stressful for me, like, in a bad way. I stopped playing and haven't gone back. I don't want to deal with him. It sucks because I really enjoyed the game up to that point. But it has a lot of good reviews, so maybe this mechanic won't bother others as much as it did me. Certainly worth a look!
