Wii-U getting hard to find? Darn it. I almost bought one last black friday. Now, I'm too worried about money to even think of getting one, much less a Switch. I hope, down the road, that I can still get a Wii-U when I have the dough.
I Don't Post Here Nearly Enough

Im back once again after a long break. I've been meaning to post here a lot more, but im lazy. Apologies if I haven't responded to anyones comments on earlier blogs, but it seems a bit late now. I do read them though.
Anyway life has been kind of a roller coaster for me over the past few years with various medical issues. I probably shouldn't get into some of those, but i've not only got a non-cancerous tumor on the nerve between my foot bone, but I was also diagnosed with epilepsy as well. Needless to say both suck and have severely restricted what I can work. Thankfully my parents have been great and have helped me out a lot.
On the gaming front not much has changed. My collection has grown some, I got myself both an XBox One S, as well as a PS4 Pro. I also managed to track down a brand new Mario Kart 8 Wii U bundle and paid just under $280 for it at the Kohls where I work. To top it off I got $50 in Kohls Cash along with it which i'll likely get Pokemon Moon with. If your not aware, the Wii U has been extremely difficult to find since Dec. I've heard Nintendo recalled them but im not 100% on that. It would make sense however since they probably felt it would cut into their Switch profits. Plus, they could just use the recalled Wii U's to replaced damaged consoles people send to them.
This brings me to the Nintendo Switch itself. As you know Nintendo was pretty quiet on the whole thing until last week when they went in depth with it. I thought their presentation started off well, but it quickly turned into a mess. This was painfully obvious when they had people from 3rd party publishers speak. When the guy from Sega came out and started talking, I really thought he would show some games off, but nope. The games from Nintendo themselves mostly seemed cool. I really like the new Mario, and Arms looked cool as well. Splatoon was also good looking, but I never got into the original, so my interest in this was low to moderate (bonus points if you know what that is from :). Then came 1-2 Switch. I had zero interest in this, but thought is would be a good game to be built into the system to show off some of its features. However I was in total shock when I saw they were releasing this as a $50 game. Zelda looks amazing, but I can get this on my Wii U so I couldn't get too excited.
The launch lineup announced was poor at best. I've already gave my thoughts on 1-2 Switch, and Zelda, but the rest? Lets see, there's a new Bomber Man which I care nothing about. Skylanders Is good, but its already been out on other consoles for months. Just Dance? Another multi[latform game which I don't care about. Aside from Mario, other games were just too far off, I can get elsewhere, or just don't justify buying the system for. Come on, slightly enhanced Mario Kart 8? I've been playing that for ages on my Wii U and see no incentive in paying $60 for the new version.
To add insult to injury on the whole thing, the extra controllers are too expensive, and the system itself cost a little too much for what you get. The final nail in things was the announcement that Nintendo was charging for their online service. Their incentive seems to be free games each month like Microsoft and Sony, but from what I understand these are only old 8-16 bit games that are nothing more then rentals. Once the month is up, they take them away.
In the end Nintendo really needs to try a lot harder if they ever want to make a mark again. They seem to be clueless about how the industry has evolved and what people actually want. There's simply no real incentive to buy their new system anytime soon. Will I ever get one? Yes I will. However they really need to pick things up really fast. With the Scorpio hitting late this year, do you really think im going to be investing in a Switch instead of that? I just got a new 4K TV, so the answer is pretty obvious.
Finally i'd like to talk about the Wii U. The system get an extremely bad rap and im not sure why. Yes it also had a somewhat rocky launch with most of its games being ports of older games you could get cheaper on 360, and PS3. However it had a good variety of great titles on it. To this day i've still been extremely impressed by the quality of its first person titles. Third party support has been rather week, but I still loved a lot of the exclusives that came from it like Sonic Lost Wolrd, Rodea Sky Soldier, Tekken Tag 2, and the Skylanders series. Plus, I could play all my Wii games on it as well.
So does anyone else have any thoughts on the Switch they would like to share?
