Where did everyone go to?

Kind of dead around here? What have y'all been doing lately? I've mainly been watching Netflix and reading in my free time. I'm sad I can't buy RE7 right now. Fuck I hate not having funds for brand new games. I'll eventually play it when it goes on sale I guess. I'll just play old RE games then.

I started watching 'The Crown' on Netflix which is like a dramatized version of Queen Elizabeth II early years as sovereign. I like how each episodes is wrapped around historical events of the day. Winston Churchill and parliament basically set her up, the royals up as dangly shiny things to keep commoners happy. It starts off slow w/ the king dying and Elizabeth adjusting to her duel role as the new monarch while balancing mother/ordinary house wife and the Queen alter ego like Batman and Bruce Wayne. As the show progresses here personal life starts becoming more complicated as her duties as Queen collide with family and personal life. She also tries to break out of a traditionally passive role become more assertive. It's basically her versus a lot of old men all the time. One thing I don't like is how it all feels a bit too much like propoganda for the royals. They are presented in a glamorous lifestyle, almost like Kardshians, without any real criticism about their snobbiness towards commoners and colonies. It is very beautifully shot, and I like period films, tv shows. Its kind of like Downton Abbey if you like that sort of thing, but less soap opera-like.

It has been a little dead around here lately. Unfortunately I've just not really felt like blogging. That's my excuse I guess.

I've mainly been reading and playing Resident Evil 7. Sorry you can't afford it atm, though if it helps greenman has it for $13 off. Maybe cheaper if you log in.

 What have you been reading?

I'm still reading that fantasy novel I mentioned before, The Winds of Fury, also reading about Russian history to compliment Russian literature--no connection to election bullshit--I was planning on reading Russian literature this year as a challenge from regular fiction.

Still here. I don't post as much as I should though. Maybe next week when BaD starts.

it ebbs and flows.  There was about a month last year when it was really slow and I was depressed about it and then it picked up.  I think it will pick up a little during BaD.  People get busy, life intervenes, etc.  But we're still here.

I wonder when the site will end? I don't want it to, but I've been here for years, the idea of it disappearing depresses me.

I don't think you have to worry about that really, not for a while.  The site is contained on a server in Nick's house, so it's pretty chillin.  I worry about people drifting away, but sometimes they drift back.  I think eventually Nick will roll out the new version of the site he's been talking about with enhancements too.  I think it would be nice if we could draw some new users in though.

I've been busy training for my snowshoe races and hanging with the new dog. Also been doing a Photo a Day challenge, which has taken up a lot of my spare time. Plus, any blogging ideas I've had I've been saving for BaD.

I remember your pictures where your house was buried under snow. We had downpours this month in LA which is great because we've had like a 5 year drought and I was sick of worrying about my mountain community burning down.

I'm certainly spotty in my contributions but I've been gearing up for BaD over the last week or two. Got more than a week's worth of blogs ready to go at the moment. I've been playing Gravity Rush 2 mostly (really good!) with some other stuff, like Magicka 2 with the wife. That's a very silly but very fun multiplayer game.

I don't think I've played enough games to write 20 BaDs. I might do a countdown or list of some kind.

My BaD MO is to try out mobile games and write up my brief impressions. There are no shortage of games to play on that front!

I haven't been around in the past couple of days because I've been at PAX South in San Antonio.  Expect an article by the end of the week hopefully.

So lucky! I don't think we have anything like PAX in Los Angeles. Just E3, but thats mainly for press and enthusiasts with credentials or whatever. I'd rather go to Retro game convention in Portland some day. It's more my kind of thing, buying old hardware and games for collection.

It's getting really hard to get into E3, even for press.  I haven't been able to get in for the past four years.  But before that, no problem.  Luckily PAX lets me in.

I check in on the blogs regularly and I listen to the NWP podcast here every time it comes out, I just haven't blogged in a really long time. Lately I'm playing Dark Souls 3 for the first time, might try to get Bloodborne soon so I can play that after

I haven't played DS3 yet. It ran like garbage on my PC so I have to eventually play it on console and I just forgot about it. I bought a PS4 for Bloodborne and it was well worth it for me. I'm a fan so, bias.

Last year it was crippling depression, this year it'll be crippling workload for me. But I am here.

I feel like depression keeps me acclimated to horrible news. Without it, I'd be in a constant state of panic, but it keeps me sedated without alcohol or drugs. I would prefer a heavy workload over 'crippling' depression any day.

So would I. Ability to take on workload also greatly increases when you are not depressed, it seems.

I have mostly been shadow lurking. I actually am about to write up a blog for the game I completed for Jan. It wasnt a hard game at all but I needed something relaxing since this month was quite depressing and stressful. Ive been watching youtube and playing on my 3ds. I got Dragon Quest 8 when it released and have enjoyed it. It definitly has been an Improvement over 7, and I do like 7 just it does have some issues. I also played the demo for Nioh, I really wanna buy it day one but I probably cant. I already got some other games for Feb.

If you don't like the current political environment it is pretty frustrating that you can't do much besides watch unless you live near major cities where a lot of protests are happening or not being able donate to a cause you care about if you don't have disposable income. Seems alot of gamers are burying themeselves in games to avoid the noise, at least gamers I follow on twitter. I might have to join a few demonstrations if this keeps on going for 8 years.Cry

...Heh, life's funny like that..Haven't been able to play games much or really blog like I once did around a place called 1Up..Was kinda surprised for a while but..I think I know how it happened..Anyhow I suppose most people prefer being on thier facebook and twitter than sites like this nowadays...(Even though I barley use mine..)

I sometimes pop in when I can. Hopefully it will pick up on BaD though. I've been saving some thjongs for it, hopefully I can make it this year. And hope the site doesn't go down anytime soon.

I'm still roaming around here and there are some folks who are still active. I think things might pick up for BaD.

I have been bad about even visiting the site, much less writing or even commenting. When I think of it, I like to check in and see what people are up to. I will try to read more during BaD.
