I Picked Up DQ VIII Today

Day 3 of BaD.......

After losing my current position I started to thinking that preordering the Switch was not a financially responsible thing to do. (Oh dear, I'm starting to talk like Tamwise). So I converted my $50 deposit into a copy of DQ VIII.

Long story short I plugged it into my 3DS and within minutes I had tears in my eyes. They did an amazing job of porting this from the PS2. It's going to be hard right now for me to go back to SMT IV Apocalypse. Damn you Dragon Quest VIII!

I'm hoping I can finish up DQ7 over the weekend so I can start DQ8. I'll save SMT4: Apocalypse for later.

Four hours in here. I love it. Such a good port. Music sounds great. Almost brought tears to me too.

I put too many hours into the PS2 original, so I don't think I could get back into DQVIII like I used to.

DQVIII is so charming and wonderful. It feels like concentrated nostalgia for PS1 amd SNES RPGs while still being (for the time) modern. I think it's the best in the series, and one of the best JRPGs full stop.

That sucks you had to cancel your preorder for the Switch. At least you got DQ8 out of it! Its a excellent game, Ive been jumping between DQ7 and DQ8,lol

Doesn't it suck having to be an adult?

I want, but it will have to wait until I start getting steady paychecks from the park again (or someone ever decides to buy me cool gaming stuff for my birthday, which rarely happens).

I managed to pre-order a Switch, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of launch games. Let other people make that mistake of picking that up. Eat, stay warm.

I've been DQVIII and have had a blast with it so far. Froze three times for some reason, but that's why the quick save's been improved to be a more permanent save I guess.
