Bionic Commando on NES is one of Capcom's most inventive platformers; you can't jump and you have to latch onto things using your robotic arm. After nearly two decades, this classic returns in HD with an updated look but the same great experience as the original. The game looks stunning with its fresh CGI graphics. Thankfully, it plays just like the original, and the feel of the game hasn't changed one bit. The bad guy's head even explodes at the end of the game, just like in the original. But perhaps the remake has the edge over the original because you have to escape Metroid-style after the final boss, which is always exciting. The game also had multiplayer, scoreboards, and trophies. It's great to see this game get some love after such a long absense. They even made a sequel to this game which was pretty good.

Ok, sequel. For a second I thought you meant the reboot was excellent and I remember that getting panned.

This remake people liked though. Personally, I couldn't get into BC when I played it via emulator. The hook-arm mechanic and no jumping just felt too stiff to me.

It takes some getting used to for sure.

Yes, there was another remake in 2009 just called "Bionic Commando" and it is NOT good.

I never played this one, but I have some friends who LOVED it.

My friend and I rented the original game back when we were kids and beat it.  I know we beat it because we were both shocked at the ending with the exploding head and cuss word!  I treid playing it again a few years ago and I have no idea how we beat it as kids.  It's so hard.  I guess age hasn't been too kind to my game playing skills.  Either that or we had more time to waste back then.

I've played the original, and it IS tough. But as kids, you can play the same game over and over and get really good at it.

I hated that I couldn't jump in the NES game.

True, but that restriction makes the game unique and forces you to use the grappling arm, which is the whole point of the game. Look at it as a little extra challenge.

Yeah, it's funny, you get awesome remake and awful remake all within the same series!
