So I pre-ordered the Nintendo Switch....

You should probably read my blog after watching this video, I'm not entirely bringing down the Switch but I have real concerns about the system.

I just looked at the launch titles again and they seem to be ports from 2016. Admittedly I just pre-ordered for Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey (still trying to work my way through Xenoblade Chronicles X just for the new one announced). Plus I'm just baffled on why Skyrim is being ported to the system at all, Fallout 4 would have made more sense since it came out in 2015. That even makes me more worried since most people must have played Skyrim on PC/PS3/Xbox/PS4/Xbox One by now. Depending if its the Enhanced Edition with mods or not, people will probably ignore it and Bethseda won't even bother making games for the Switch after that. Not to mention its slated for a fall release. My cyniscism is kind of making me wonder if this could possible be another WiiU. Then again, the WiiU was plagued but bad marketing, late ports and dare I say "lazy 3rd party developers"! Either way, the last game EA released for the WiiU before leaving the system entirely was a Need for Speed game; it was good Need for Speed game but not a game worth getting a system for when it already came out on other systems months before. Then again, most games that were announced last month at the Switch reveal was a just a small taste. Maybe by the time E3 rolls around, Nintendo will have more games from themselves and other publishers as well. As it stands, I do kind of wish that I got a PSVR headset than pre-ordering a Nintendo Switch. Microsoft isn't getting my money anytime soon, they cancelled Scalebound those bastards!

Trying to stay optimistic about pre-ordering the Switch, then again there is going to be a GCN section for the system. Con, Star Wars Rogue Squadron won't get a release because EA owns the rights, fuck!

I've been a life long Nintendo fan and I absolutely loved the WiiU, although I know it had a weak library, I still loved the poratability of the tablet and I'm glad we're getting a slightly better tablet now. I might be skipping out on this system and waiting until Christmas or next year simply because I really only see myself playing Zelda and Mario which I refuse to buy a new system for that has a history of terrible support with things like the eshop and 1st and 3rd party games. I might just get new Zelda on WiiU and hold off for a year so they build a better library. I'm really behind on PS4 games and 3DS games and Switch will just go into a pile with my backlog of games. Maybe a new Metroid or exclusive might make it more appealing, but at the moment I just see ported games and nicer looking versions of the same games. I really don't see the innovation in this hardware from previous gen and I also just don't see that something 'NEW' that I must have like when Mario and Zelda went 3D or Zelda went cell shaded. Interestingly, my younger bro has never been into videogames at all except for star wars games so he missed out on PS3, PS4, XBox360, XB1, but is really excited for Breath of Wild and the Switch for some reason? I don't know what this means? He doesn't even play games on his phone or care for portables, but he really wants this? Very strange.

So, I thought that the games shown at the Switch presentation showed promise, mainly for RPGs that probably won't make their way to other consoles. But I'm puzzled at the age of some of the games announced for the system. I believe that the version of Skyrim coming to Switch is the 2011 release, not the enhanced edition, which is extra troubling.

I think the console itself looks good, but 299 is too much for me based on what it seems to do. I'd largely be using it as a portable (well, nightstand) system, and 199 sounds right to me, expecially since you can get an Xbox One S for the same price as the Switch.

I have no plans to get a Switch any time soon.  I still have yet to get a Wii U and there are still a few Wii games I want to get too.  I want to get those games I waited for the prices to drop on before moving to the next console and it's games.

I'm not going to get a switch at launch but I'd like to. Too many other financial obligations. But I'd like to get one around the time MArio Kart comes out. We'll see.

I have no plans to buy a Switch or a PSVR until their libraries have been proven. I'd love to get a Switch just cause it releases in my birthday month, but Mass Effect Andromeda actually comes out ON my birthday, soooooo .... as long as I don't have to know the 1-3 plotlines to get the main story (sure there will be easter eggs I'll miss) I'll probably ask for that for my birthday.

The Switch does have a lousy launch line up, but I don't regret pre-ordering mine because I know they will have good games in the future I will like, and it'll give me an early opportunity to review Switch games, too.

So far no one seems skeptical, at least in terms of pre-orders. The thing is sold out everywhere right now. I want in even if it's only for Zelda Breath of the Wild. Love the footage shown in in that video above. I hope they bring some Wii-U titles I missed to the Switch.
