This classic adventure game is the sequel to the cult hit Maniac Mansion. Day of the Tentacle likewise received enormous praise for its wacky characters, inventive story, and hilarious dialogue. After the success of the Grim Fandango remaster, Tim Schafer and his team at Double Fine decided to remake this one as well. The visuals still have that cartoony look but are more detailed and refined. Despite the fact that there is no hint system, this game is the definitive version of the game and is a timeless treasure for any fan of point and click adventure games. The original is still great, but check out the videos below and see the improvements for yourself.

It's on PS+ this month, so if you don't own it and have an account you can own it.

Speaking of which, I still need to play my PS+ copy of the Grim Fandango remaster.

After I beat Psychonauts ... and my free PS+ copy of Broken Age.

I saw Game Grumps play Maniac Mansion, so now that I know this is related, I'm a lot more excited about it. I might actually dl it when I get home.

I kinda want to play the '93 version though. The presentation gives me nostalgia for games I used to play on the middle school computers while my computer teacher mom handled everyone's IT issues late at night.

I should try and play this sometime.  I remember the old Maniac Mansion game, but I didn't get into it as much as I did LucasFilm's next point and click adventure: Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders.  I wish they'd remake that one!

Also, did you know that at one point, there was a live aciton sitcom VERY loosely based on Maniac Mansion?  It was called Maniac Mansion (duh), and it was AWFUL!

Hm, I'll have to look that up.

I watched quite a few episodes. It wasn't that awful. Found it pretty funny myself.

I wish we could get a remake of Maniac Mansion.

Perhaps they'll consider doing it next if DotT does good.

As a big fan of Maniac Mansion, I was super excited when the original version of DOTT came out. I remember it was back when CD games were first becoming a thing and they advertised the CD-ROM version as a "Talkie," meaning that it had spoken dialogue.  It quickly became one of my all-time favorite games.  When this remake came out I hadn't played the game for probably about two decades (holy shit I just realized how long it's been and how much older I am), but I bought it day one on the PS4 and enjoyed playing through it again.

That's great, dude! It's always amazing to relive those games you grew up on, especially with a great remake.

I'll have to download this on my PS4. I played Grim Fandango on my Vita and it was fine, but I've gotta have this on my TV. I'm still kicking myself for not picking up Maniac Mansion for NES years ago when I saw it at a flea market. It seemed pricey to me at something like $10, but I should've grabbed it anyway.

Believe me, I've done that with plenty of games. I think everyone has. "Why didn't I buy that game???"
